Experience with Actonel or Fosamax

Has anyone experience taking Actonel or Fosamax without esophageal symptoms? Did you take it daily, weekly or monthly? Also, what improvement has your DEXA scan shown? My physician says she has just started taking Actonel and is encouraging me to do so. I am not inclined to follow this advice but would like additional information from other sources.

I read that NASA sends astronauts to space with one or the other… don’t know if it’s required or optional. Not sure how it would work in antigravity(?)
