Gaviscon side effects

Hello, I was wondering is there anyone who gets side effects after taking Gaviscon? I read lots of responds in this topic that many of you take Gaviscon after meals and before bed and it works for the reflux. But I don't understand why I always have dizziness and breathing issue after taking it. Sometimes it's just mild. Last time I took it before bed, the next morning I woke up feeling weird in my head and it lasted the whole day. Then breathing issue appeared. It also lasted until the next day. My major symptom is burping/belching. Even during eating I will feel few burps are going to come up. Is this categorized as reflux? I even have no idea how the reflux or heartburn feels like. My gastro simply said everyone refluxes differently. My endoscopy few months ago showed mild gastritis and esophagitis. Do these conditions go away quickly?

I dont have any side effects from Gaviscon but it affects some peoples breathing, can cause asthma. That’s too bad. It is one of my main things for instant relief and I would hope everyone had that to fall back on. Yes burping is reflux. Count yourself blessed if you have not felt the full effects of acid hitting your esophagus. It’s excruciating. Gastritis can heal quickly if you buckle down and don’t do anything to aggravate it otherwise it can turn chronic. If you take care and eat bland it can clear in 2-10 days but when it turns chronic it can last months and years. It’s about 4 months for me right now and it’s pretty bad.

I have searched many times online and cannot find any reference to Dr Louise Kaufman or her book. My searches only ever come up with a book of the same name by Jamie Koufman. I am in the UK and have used various search engines. Can anyone offer any help with this?

My pharmacist has warned me against Gaviscon because its very high in salt. I don't know if that could be a cause of your problem. Also it just prevents acid reaching the oesophagus and does nothing to prevent the excess acid in your stomach.

I have experienced quite severe belching and burping. Very embarrassing in company. I switched to a reflux trainer called zemaflux (zemaflux.com) and this has helped reduce it considerably. In fact I no longer take Gaviscon.
