Anyone got any good tips for taking tablets? I've got to take some that are quite big and I struggle with big tablets. I'm not allowed to cut them up or take them with food. Any suggestions most welcome

I had to take some large anti biotics recently and took them in a spoonful of yoghurt, leaning slightly forward. Did this after found the suggestions online when I googled. Worked for me. Good luck.

I ask the docs for liquid meds where possible or ask for a lower dose in a smaller tablet and take 2 tablets. I struggle with big tabs too and find they get stuck or have no effect as the part of the gut that should absorb them is missing. If allowed I crush them up, my sense of taste is nearly non existent now

Hi, you could try coating them in butter or dairy spread before you swallow them to help them slide down.

Try taking them with sparkling water or any other fizzy drink.

instead of putting the tablet in the middle of your mouth at the back of your tongue, try putting it to the side of your tongue behind your back molars. Then take a big drink and just imagine you’re swallowing food like lumpy mashed potato or soft fruit. That avoids your tongue’s gag reflex.

I was having choking and swallowing issues, and now take 8 tablets per day. ENT doctor suggesting taking them with a smoothie, or a thickened liquid. I find it easier than with water.

I saw a tip some years ago where someone said to turn your head to one side just before you swallow and that really seems to work well for me. I can't feel tablets going down at all if I do that.
