drugs for slow swallow

sudden onset of ‘reflux’ 5 months, been on every PPI there is which made me worse. Endoscopy shows small hiatus hernia. 24 hr gastric monitoring shows not acid reflux but a poor swallow. Dr suggesting amitriptyline at night or 4x a day diltiazem. Has anyone any experience of these drugs for this? I have the lump in throat feeling and a sore throat and cough.

Hi, I have been on PPI's for several years due to acid reflux, they can make your throat and mouth dry causing less saliva to help food go down when you eat, especially things like bread which seem to stick in your throat. I have found sucking sweets (e.g. Werthers, which are quite small) just after I have eaten, help to create more saliva and help food go down. Hope this helps.
