Well I've just taken my first dose of 5mgs MTX this evening & wondering how I am going to be with it - guess I wait & see!!! I've got a couple of quieter days so hopefully the side effects won't impact too much but hope it works on the RA!
I forgot to take my lunchtime pain relief & wondered why I was hurting so much!!!
I started on 15mg and now up to 25mg the only effect I have is sicky feeling for a couple of days after so I pamper myself and have grandkid free they do pop in to say hi but dont stay have takeaway and long baths
Hi, I too started on 10mgs MTX 3 weeks ago. I was scared at first after hearing about the problems some others have but am pleased to say I have had no side effects. It has now been put up to 15mgs starting on Sunday and Rheumy says that if I have had no problem with 10 then the chances are I will be able to tolerate15 just as well. Good luck and hope your MTX works as well as mine.

Thanks everyone - I've started off on 5mgs as my neutrophils had been down so he's being cautious.
Hope it all works well for you Pauline, I've also just started taking MTX (tomorrow will be the 3rd lot), I have to take 7.5mg once a week (along with my Sulfasalazine) and can already see a difference in my right hand, which used to get very swollen and red.
I've just started my first 10mg MTX Thursday 27 August was apprehensive but tolerated well, had 2nd dose 15mg last Thursday morning along with a big plate porridge for breakfast and drank loads& loads water during day, again tolerated well and next Thursday dose will be upped to 20mg which I think will be my weekly dose. My RA only started end March and have been on and still am on Prednisolone..
That was a blast from the past! I'm still on MTX as well as a biologic, I now give my MTX as a injection as I was feeling rough taking it orally & hung over for a couple of days, not the injection is far better & I don't get the unpleasant side effect - good luck!
