I have had a rash on my wrist for about 12 months now... - NRAS
I have had a rash on my wrist for about 12 months now and cant get rid of it .
It couldn't be Psoriasis could it Jilly? That is also an autoimmune disease and sometimes it causes arthritis known as Psoriatic Arthritis. Apart from that I can't help - is it itchy and what RA meds do you take?
Hi TildaT , yes it does itch and there are lots of little spots under the surface which go red when i scratch it , the skin is very dry and looks wrinkley all the time . I am on Meth and Hydro which i have had the spots for a long time and only just gone on Meth a couple of months ago as sulpha didnt work for me . thanks for the help ....jilly x
Sounds more like eczema than psoriasis from your description Jilly. Have you tried asking your doctor or pharmacist about taking antihistamines yet? They may help but you need to double check. My GP prescribed me with antihistamines and I'm on exactly same meds as you are. Tilda x
Mtx or RA, one or the other (or both?) have made my right hand extremely dry, looks and feels like I wash up 24/7 which is not quite the case & anyway I wash up with both hands. But it's not a rash and it does not itch. Like Tilda I wondered whether your rash is Psoriasis. It might be a good idea to ask for a referral to a dermatologist. Luce x
If you have any kind of problem rash that GP treatment isn't managing to deal with, then definitely ask for a referral to a dermatologist. Also take photos of it when its at its worst as chances are it will have gone into hiding by the time you do get a dermatology appointment. If it is psoriasis, that may slightly change the way you are treated, as some of the DMARDs work better than others on psoriasis and related inflammatory arthritis.
i agree with the comnents that it could be psoriasis. there are different types too so it psoriasis doesn't just have to be scaly.
there is a kind which effects your hands and feet called palmoplanter psoriasis and a type called guttatte psoriasis - it would be worth asking your gp if it could be those. also hydrocorisotone cream and mild steroid cream probably won't shift it if it is psoriasis but i've found dovobet to be really effective.
