Speak to your doctor he will be able to refer you to a pain clinic, maybe they can help you.

I am now on a slow release morphine so I get a better balance off my pain and not big gaps during the day or night were pain relief don't work but we are all different so my meds might not suit you, see your gp don't suffer.

Take care

Sadly it's trial and error finding a pain med which works for you. I've spent 25 yr changing pain meds/ NSAID's and Disease Modifiers .

The pain relieve only lasts so long so it's up to me to stay on top of it and once your body becomes used to it you have to increase the dosage or change altogether.

Is it possible for you to increase the dose before/after playing with the grandchildren to hopefully keep the pain at bay. Also, speak to your doctor, my doc gave me a combination of painkillers (Tramadol and Nefopam) to use at times of severe pain and extra activity. They do work though they also make me more sleepy.

Good luck.

Hi there, the other two are right. Speak to your GP about other pain medication - it may be what you are on you are getting used to and it is not having quite the same effect.

My consultant recommended 1000mg paracetemol and 400mg of Nurofen which I find works. I cannot take any of the morphine based pain killers as they make me very ill. I am allergic to Morphine. Just as well I am not on Heroin! LOL.

I have 2 very lively small grand children who like me to pick them up but the oldest (6) is now getting quite heavy. If I am going to be with the children for any length of time and expected to play etc. I do take pain killers before I go.

Hope it gets sorted out soon. Best wishes. lavendarlady x
