Another good result from the hospital........

I have just got back from the hospital. It was the pschyio (pardon spelling) this time. Matt my pschyio was very impressed with the progress i have made. The bend and the straight part he had me do was spot on. His words "you have a fully functioning knee" It is still a long way to go,but with my knee i'm getting there. It is all the repairing thats going on in my knee that causes me the most pain. Matt has said that it is still only early days in my recovery,if how my knee is now what will it be like when it is fully recovered.

My pschyio is off to the olympic village tomorrow. He is taking care of the blind football team. That is how good he is. I am seeing him again after the paralympics. I am chuffed to bits with my knee. At least something is going right for a change...

Morning Girls,I am pleased the knee is getting there.I have been told by matt that it is still only early days. The knee though i can do something about with the exercises that matt has given me and as long as i keep doing them i will get there. There haven't been many days when i haven't done the exercises thats been mainly to ra/fibro. I thank you girls for the lovely words.

Love to you all. sylvi.xxx

Message to Sylvia's knee: 'WELL DONE KNEE' (I understand that cap. letters represents shouting - I do hope so cause I wouldn't want to be rude to your knee!) Being a 'silver surfer' I just don't know if it is rude.

Well, I am sooo pleased for you. No doubt the exercises will get easier as time goes on and hopefully the pain will ease off for you very soon.

Judi i can rely on you to bring a smile to my face. I like it. I too am a silver surfer, but my hair is coloured five different colours. I refuse to look my age though,my body feels like a 95 yr old. My lot are doing a sponsored walk from stratford to coventry so i'm home alone, so out will come my go faster scooter and i'm going to tear down the road to bedworth, like all the scooter roadhogs!!!!!

Great news ..you must be delighted x

Sylvie dear, I am so pleased and excited for you! and your knee! Just don't try kneeling on it, like pulling weeds, it hurts like hell. I found that out when I fell once and had to get my knees and feet underme to get back up. Discovered a little cushion to carry on my walker might be a big help. Nah!. best thing is don't fall.

Do you have a stationery bike? My recoveries involved using that, the pedaling action was a way of making sure the knee still would bend enough, and the tension couild be tightened on the belt to increase the difficulty as you master one setting, it really helps strengthen the thigh muscles. You are on your way to walking on two feet all by yourself! I am just so tickled for you, JUST DON"T OVER-DO IT!! Remember, it's a bunch of metal and plastic, if it breaks it won't heal :) Enjoy the rest of summer! Loret

I know loretta, i still have one stick, which i'm not too bothered about. The walking will come i know. The only trouble i get apart from the healing is my back, which the surgeon says i will have trouble with and i am. As soon as i start to do anything on my feet my back aches. I know not to kneel on it. We do have an exercise bike in the garage which i could use.

Great news, Sylvia and as for the 'fully functioning knee' bit - what magic words! Your physio certainly does have impressive credentials! Hope your recovery goes from strength to strength.

(Also, thanks for your helpful response to my question. I responded to both of the responses I've had but one didn't work and the other got and 'error blah blah blah' notice. Grrrr!)

Recovery is still going on,it the muscles and nerves that have to heal now and i have been told it will take a long while for them to knit back together.

Your welcome to my answer to your question,if i can help i will. love sylvia.xxx
