Sorry to hear this hun, Ive not had any surgery either yet, however my rheuamtologist has said once I can get my diease activity under control (hopefully enbrel works) then I need to consider having surgery on my finger joints and my wrist but weve not really spoke about it much yet.

Phone back and ask for what the procedure was called and then maybe the NRAS helpline will be able to give you more information on this.

Take care xx

sorry to hear this! I think, mandy, cece oy lwn-w spring to mind think they have personal experince.. im sure othes do too!, you are so young to, you will need help with your liitle ones try to get some practical help set before operation.. recovery will prob be 4 weeks or so? disclaimer.. estimated recovery time only

Hi there. I've had both wrists operated on the procedure was called a "synovectomy" which involves tendon repair and shaving of the bone. Complicated surgery but well worth it, recovery was quite long too as it involves a lot of OT and physio. Not had any problems since the ops.

Good luck and anything else you need or want to now just ask.

Above is a link about the surgery but it is a little graphic, so if you don't like that sort of thing then I wouldn't look.

Thanks guys - I'm not sure I want surgery yet - it feels like it should be a last resort kind of thing not something done this soon. I guess I'll just wait and see how the consultation goes....

If your in a flare obviously most joints will be painful sore and swollen, when the flare had subsided so does the swelling and pain etc. (to a point anyway) However if the wrist is then still giving you the same sort of problems this may then be an indication that surgery may be needed.

Just something for you to keep an eye on.

Take care
