Need advice please, Have two lumps that are enlarging on the underside of right wrist. Seems to be happening over last 4 to 6 weeks (?) Some discomfort. On left wrist the bones are hardly detectable. I can see the heart beat in the vein that must run the swelling. This is a 65 y/old manual workers unwashed hand. Not due to see Rhuemy till Jan 30 and my GP not so good on RA. Is this normal RA activity? Had RA positive for one year. Any advice greatly appreciated. I live amongst the convicts in Sydney.
Wrist bone lumps a worry.: Need advice please, Have two... - NRAS
Wrist bone lumps a worry.
If it is a soft lump it's nothing to worry about. Its liquid from the inflammed joint. I have had them and they just go away by themselves. Usually when I put less strain on wrist.
It's very common to develop lumps around the joints, especially, I find, around my wrists. Some of them are fluid filled, sometimes associated with the tendons, some become bony lumps which fill in the spaces between the usual bones in the wrist. And they do seem to come and go over the months and years.
Naturally they will stretch, and make more prominent, a vein that passes over them.
Nothing to worry about, although occasionally they may be a nuisance if too close to a nerve - not much room in the wrist!
If you ask at your next appointment, I'm sure you will feel relieved at their casual acceptance.
