Following the steroid injection......

Well I had a IM steroid injection 10 days a go, I was given a larger than normal dose which meant the Rheumy had to give it as it was above what the nurse could give!

They never seem to work that quickly with me &it's only been in the last couple of days that it's started to work, my fingers & hands are better & I can now grip & close them, also pick up small objects. Sadly it hasn't reached my knees & they are still pretty crap!

I stopped Sulfa at the same time to see if the bad taste/smell would go. I have to say that at the moment it's still there! It's stopping me eating a lot of food (helping with the diet!) so I'm now beginning to wonder if it's not the Sulfa causing the problem. But if it's not Sulfa then what is it?!!!

I'm back to my GP next week to go through all my drugs with her & to see what options they are to find out what it is - any suggestions welcome.

Teeth, sinuses, reflux all fine!

You didn't eat any pine nuts recently did you? I had a horrible taste in my mouth when all the RA symptoms started and it lasted for about 3 weeks and I looked it up online and came up with this thing called "Pine Mouth" which you get from old pine nuts that have gone a bit rancid. I'd had a whole load on some pasta the night before the foul taste started. Just a thought - and as I've said already I hated Sulpha so if you want to blame that feel free! TTx

I'd give it a bit longer as you probably still have some sulpha in your system if only stopped 2 weeks ago. Hopefully another 10 days and you'll be smelling flowers again. Px

I can only comment that the steriod injection is fantastic for me! Been waiting 8 weeks now for Humeria but the paperwork seems to have "got lost" and was re-submitted. (maybe it was never sent - or am I just being suspicious). Anyway after struggling to walk with pain in my toes, ankles and knees for several months now I asked if I could have another steriod injection (only the third I have had in 3 years) while I waited. 24 hours later and all the pain has gone! I can run with no pain close my fingers to a fist, which I havn't been able to do for ages and this morning I even put on a jumper without having to think how to hold it to minimise pain in my fingers and wrists. Fantastic! Just a shame I can't have these every few months. Anyway Humeria arrives tommorrow so lets hope this works.

I'm jealous....& I guess a bot concerned as well that my steroid injection hasn't given me the same relief that you're experiencing!

I can close my fist now & the fingers aren't as swollen, but the knees are still very painful & swollen.

My wrists are still sore & I'm finding it difficult to use the keyboard.

I'm worrying now as to what medication is going to get my arthritis under control.

In alot of ways my arthritis has got worse over the months rather than improving :(
