Hi Everyone, I had a steroid shot ( in my bottom!) today and it's throbbing with pain. I had one a few months ago but realise now I was using a transdermal opiod patch at the time and that quite possibly reduced the pain. I've been applying heat all evening but it doesn't seem to have helped. Any tips / shared experiences/ reassurance that it will quickly pass, most gratefully received....
Pain following intramuscular steroid injection. - NRAS
Pain following intramuscular steroid injection.
I was informed a Depo Medrone can hurt for 2 or 3 days after & to use cold compresses not heat if it did. It's called a steroid flare, it's the injection causing the pain but you're aware of that. You could ask if there's anyting you could take if it continues to be painful. I hope once the pain goes you find it helps.
Thanks nomoreheels, it helped hugely the last time so am looking forward to post 'flare'. I'll grab that freezer pack now x
Grin and bear is the order of the day. They are wonderful. Make me feel RA free for a month or so. They last less these days tho.
Hmmm. Not looking forward to the one I'm due to have Monday then 😏
When I had mine, it was blimmin' stingy when it went in (which only lasted a few seconds) but no problems with pain straight afterwards. Worth it if it works though! I had really bad Costochondritis at the time and had hoped it would get rid of the pain in my ribcage. Unfortunately it had absolutely no effect for me but have read some really great things about the difference it can make for some people. Hope it goes ok.
It's still sore but has calmed down this morning, thank goodness. I'm of the "see if I can manage without" brigade but last night eventually took two cocodamol and zopiclone and worked a treat! The fact it's 8.30 and I'm no where near ready for work is a side effect I'll live with☺️ As others have suggested yours might be fine dtech. Best of luck x
With some it's great...I find a 120 mg Depomedrone injection in my thigh not buttock.....can give me up to 3 months relief, but for others it has no lasting effect.
The jab itself doesn't hurt, but sometimes after 24 hrs the injection site aches a bit.....but after icing it a couple of times it's fine.
I hope you are one of the lucky ones.
I know exactly what you're talking about. I had one in my hip yesterday and it hurts like hell now! I've had it before so I know the pain will go. I just treat it with pain killers and ice it a bit. The last one had was pain free so I don't know what was different.
Quick update folks: I'm absolutely fine tonight. Thanks for all the words of support 💛
