avoiding kids who have had live vaccines?

My grandson has just had his 12 month jabs (four in total), some of which are live vaccines. I just wondered, as we’re almost all immunosuppressed, if any of you have avoided kids who have had the same? And if so for how long? He’s feeling off side bless him and I’m sure he’d like a cuddle from his nanna but my daughter doesn’t want to put me at risk.

I’m currently on LEf, just had my last Yuflyma and waiting to start Rituximab.

I realise responses will be anecdotal and not based on professional medical opinions but I just like to get a feel for what others do. Many thanks

My Rheumy team advised me to avoid close contact for at least a week, preferably two as it is a risk for us. So hard to do that isn’t it? Definitely worth try to avoid changing nappies and being slobbered over!

Thank you. I tried to search for previous posts but I didn’t have much luck…probably because the key word was vaccines. I’ll look on the website.

When my granddaughters have had any live vaccines I was advised to keep away from them for a week. This was the advice given to my daughter by the GP when she asked him and she has always stuck to this.

When my granddaughter has hers I stay away for 2 weeks as advised by my rheumy. Also if any dog in your family has a live vaccine stay away too. My nieces vet told her that as he asked if any family was on immunosuppressive meds.

I’ve never really considered it. Perhaps it’s because I reckoned that my immune system is overactive and that the medication was keeping it at a normal level. I’m rarely ill and don’t avoid recently vaccinated children.

thanks everyone. I’ll wait at least a week then give him the biggest nanna cuddle ever!
