grandchildren's live vaccines

I was meant to go to hydrotherapy yesterday but had fungal thing at top of leg so couldn't go. Today my step daughter and children were coming for tea but one of the kid's has had temperature and cough - so cancelled that.

Next week was looking forward to seeing my grandson's but just found out one is having the flu nose spray and other one polio and my step-daughter's baby having one year jabs! We are all going to a baby shower and get together on the Saturday - first time since before Covid.

I've read on here before about avoiding children having live vaccines but can't find it now. I'm on Baricitinib and my husband has literally just started Imraldi.

I'm grateful the Jak is working for me but feeling frustrated about restrictions and side effects.

I away's get very emotional as I really want to see the grandchildren and need to be more logical and say if they are ill we can't see them but need correct info about the live vaccines.

Does anyone have any info about avoiding children that have had live vaccines?

I was thinking we could still go the baby shower and get together (it's the first time we have done anything like this since before Covid as I was so anxious) after but avoid the vaccinated children! Feeling fed up!

thank you xx

With the caveat I’m not medically qualified. I replied to someone about this the other day with the link to the green book chapter on live vaccines (below, bottom of page 6 onwards talks about risk to immunocompromised contacts), but essentially the advice is unless you’ve recently had a bone marrow transplant or chemotherapy, or would otherwise be advised to strictly isolate at all times due to the degree of immunosuppression you have, the routine live vaccines given to children are not a concern. The nasal flu vaccine is not considered a risk to those purely taking conventional DMARDs, and the advice for those on biologics or steroids is conservative out of caution rather than any evidence of risk. Polio is not a live vaccine in the UK.

I am on tocilizumab. My granddaughters had their MMR jabs a couple of weeks ago. My daughter asked the doctor about them being in contact with me and the advice was to stay away from them for a few days. It was the same with the nasal flu vaccine. The polio vaccine is not live. I know how frustrating it is not to be able to see grandchildren!
