Forgetting medication!

Can you take Amgevita (Adalimumab) on the same day as methotrexate?

I was told way back that I could take my last biologic, Benepali, on the same day as methotrexate but I’m not sure about this one. I forgot to take Amgevita last night and I usually take methotrexate on Wednesday!

I’m on Cimzia injections every 10 days, which at some point will be on Methotrexate Monday, but I haven’t read anywhere that you can’t do them both on the same day.

I’m on benepali and mtx and was told all biologics should be at least 48hrs apart from MTX. Otherwise you risk increasing susceptibility to infections. I take MTX on Wednesdays and Benepali on Saturdays.

Thank you so much for your replies. I’m going to delay methotrexate meantime and keep a gap between the two drugs. I did ring the hospital help line but it’ll be a couple of days before I hear back from them, so you’ve really helped me not to stress! I’ll sleep tonight.

When getting my training for Adalimumab was told best not to for reasons if a reaction not sure which caused it? Also lots for the body to cope with, as well as more compromise to the immune symptoms.

Never hurt to check next time you contact your RA team.

Hi , they are both prescribed to use for RA however l know that it is generally better to use these drugs on different days l know my RA Consultant advises that unless they are daily drugs. This allows your different drugs to mingle better . Your consultant has prescribed them l am presuming and they will have been aware you are on Methotrexate and felt it was safe to do that for you. How this helps, you can always check with the RA help desk at your hospital if you are worried
