Hi everyone, my life has been changed by Amgevita and I’ve been feeling wonderful since starting it four months ago. It’s made an incredible positive impact. I’m currently on day 3 of a mystery flare which I can’t pinpoint a trigger for - the pain is so extreme in a way I thought didn’t happen anymore. My question is this - it’s at the latter end of my fortnight since last injection (I’ve just taken it this morning as is my date to take it). Have any of you had experience of it ‘wearing off’ towards the end of fortnight/just before you take it again? Or is the build-up in your system such that this is not the case? I’m on accompanying 25ml methotrexate weekly. Just wondering why my effective medication is not holding this sudden nasty flare at bay. My ESR level is at its lowest so do diagnosis. Many thanks
Amgevita wearing off over fortnight?: Hi everyone, my... - NRAS
Amgevita wearing off over fortnight?
😒 Yes, it often happens to me, but not always. It starts to wear off about day 11. My Methotrexate was increased to 20mg which helps a bit, but otherwise no one seems interested .
Let us know if you find a solution!
I am sorry to tell you this happens with a lot of RA drugs…not just early on either.I know in the early days I’d think I had “found my drug”….only to wake up back at square one the next day.
But do try not to get too despondent….RA is a Marathon, not a sprint…you will get there eventually…..& then you will forget all the disappointments.
Unfortunately with any of the medications, it’s still possible to get flares, it doesn’t mean it’s not working. The fact your ESR is low suggests it is still working.i often find, if I have a good day, and make the most of it, I’ll pay for it the next day. I don’t think the current humidity helps. They generally advise waiting 6 months to see full effect.
I’ve been on Amgevita since Sept 2023, no other meds (methotrexate side effects were too sever) and yes, it tends to wear off for me the second week going into injection week.
