The pain

So last June I had a flare-up on my knee and it has never gone away. I had gone to see the consultant who then gave me an injection so a week later it was still as bad. He said he would get me to go for an emergency scan. Also last year I was having problems with my throat. I cannot take strong painkillers or opioids if you said now that you have a hacksaw I could cut your leg off I would say where will I meet you " That's how painful it is especially at night I am getting about 3 hours of sleep a night if that.Sorry not looking for sympathy just want to tell you this get it off my chest. So I got a letter last week to go for a scan on my sinuses I say ok they never mentioned that to me at hospital with my throat but I will go so my appointment was for 7.30 at night in this private clinic.I go and get the scan and as I was walking out the door the girl says so your consultant and said his name will get the results in 3 weeks I said excuse me that's my rheumatology consultant why would he be getting a scan done on my sinuses it's my knee that's so bad. she says I can only do what's on the letter. trying to get in touch with the Dr is a nightmare and how long am I going to have to wait for another emergency scan.

sounds dreadful. Keep trying to get hold of consultant via his secretary? Was it an ortho or RA consultant? If RA try nurse helpline. The referral may have got lost. It’s usually the admin that goes wrong. Don’t give up. Ask gp to help intervene?

I'm so sorry, I just wanted to say how much I sympathise. I also have had for some months excruciating knee pain that I put down to a flare. Several steroid injections later ( in the bum - can't inject knee as it's a partial replacement) with no great success, I was referred to MSK for an X-ray, and it turns out it isn't specifically RA, it's osteoarthritis now in the other side of my knee to the partial replacement, bone on bone, but also causing inflammation. Which is why the injections weren't effective. Now awaiting appointment with Orthopaedics re another knee job. Maybe persevere with your GP and see whether they can offer to re-route you again? I wish you all the luck in getting it sorted soon

So, I finally got through to the consultant's Secretary who confirmed that at the beginning of 2023, I was at an appointment with the consultant I had a continuous cough to which I was told it was a postnasal drip. My consultant made an appointment for a CT scan of my sinuses problem solved
