shortage of medication.

Went to collect my medications from my local pharmacy and for the second time time they were unable to give me my full prescription of Salazopyrin, I got 22 instead of 112. Is any one else having this problem? Hopefully they will have the rest of the prescription as I take 4 a day. I am in Leicester and find it very difficult to contact my rheumatology nurses, being given six options when phoning leaves me forgetting which one to pick☹️

I feel your pain. I’ve just moved my rheumy care from Leicester. New authority nurses answer the same day!

no not had shortages yet in my area of London. Must be so stressful having to make extra visits and that is less than 5 days dose.

I am on 4 tablets too but with methotrexate each week and Benepali injection.

I feel your pain immensely. I’ve been on that prescription for almost two years and other than about 2 or three times I get the same problem each time my medication is due or they don’t have any stocks. I’m in Plymouth. I can occasionally get an alternative of Sulfasalazine but that can also be in short supply. It’s been really stressful and I’ve had to lower my 6 daily dose so many times to make sure I’m getting at least some in my system. I asked my dr for an extra spare bottle to keep just in case but they’re reluctant. Good luck in getting yours x

I’ve had same problem. I live in Lancashire and Boots where I pick my prescriptions up from told me that the drug company is not making the Salazopryn brand (which I’ve been on for 24 years) any more. They gave me Sulphasalazine in its place and I’m worried if it is as effective!

I think there is a problem nationally with this medication. I was on a cheaper brand of Sulphasalzine but have now been put on the more expensive brand of Sulphasalzine as the chemist had to request this from my GP. Hope you can get sorted. I am on shared care for my DMARD medication.
