Methotrexate shortage?

i am awaiting a delivery of Methotrxate from Pharmaxo. I had already been contacted by the nurse in the Rheumatology Dept. who had told me there was a shortage of Methotrxate injections so would be supplied with metoject pens instead. No problem as I have those for Benepali. I was due a delivery tomorrow,Friday, but have had a telephone call today to say that as Methotrexate is in short supply I will only have ONE delivered tomorrow and I will be contacted about a further supply. Is anybody else having this problem?

No, but then I'm prescribed pens. I would actually prefer to return to the prefilled injections, which I take is what you'd have normally? I keep meaning to ask if it's possible but maybe not until the shortage is sorted. I wonder if they are fazing them out? The MTX pen is different to the Benepali one in that it's a button release. If you have dicky thumbs you may find it a little awkward but like me probably find a way round that.

Thanks nomoreheels. I shall be interested to see what gets delivered tomorrow and hoping the rest of the prescription gets delivered next week😊

I have had the opposite problem I get the injector pen for my abatacept and got a call saying there was a shortage and I would be getting pre filled pens. This is after receiving a letter before Christmas saying the pens were in short supply. Seems there are supply problems of certain drugs currently.

I’m in Scotland and use Metoject pens. Their seems to be fine so far. M x

In my experience of MTX a shortage is a good thing !
