I have no idea how but this year I'm a lot more organised. Mince pies, sausage rolls, cheese straws have escaped into freezer ready for our Drop In next week and I feel so much better in myself. The extra 50mcg of Azathioprine this past week has really made a difference. It just feels like more colour and energy. I know it helps the CKD although it is prescribed for RA and so I'm really looking forward to a tomorrow night party after watching the Tractor Parade. No glamorous velvet dresss for this party its puffer jackets and bobble hats and gloves. Just how glamorous is that !
And at last the GP is a bit more organised they've now got a pharmacist who rang this week to talk about medications. I said this is such waste of your time and mine as your asking same questions as Nephrologist, RA Consultant and Urologist can't change any prescription , but you go ahead. She really laughed and replied I know so do you have any questions if not then I'm calling as well as interested in CKD and the interaction with RA so can I ask you about that. So I answered as best as I could and I hope it helped her. But I did feel it was useful to get the call, as although I have a hot line number for Renal 24/7 and the GP is never the first port of call for CKD patients this is hopefully a sign that things are now slowly changing in our practice.

First time ever! We had cheese sandwiches a couple of years ago for best Christmas ever. I don’t really like roasts very much so doing beef short rib bbq. Have a lovely Christmas and Happy New Year. X
I grew up on a farm we had turkeys and chicken and my mum and dad ate, ducks, pigeons, rabbits in fact mostly anything he could shoot except swans. Probably because of that I don’t eat anything wildfowl, chicken , turkey etc. I’m not sentimental just don’t like the taste and smell of it cooking. So this year it’s what we like, is easy to do in advance and doesn’t require military timing. lol xx
Well done, I need to be organised but this year I am not, I’m allergic to all poultry, this year I’m going to my daughters, will just have a slice of ham and watch everyone eat the Turkey, I do like it but can’t eat it. I’m having the family down on the 29th, so doing a big roast beef in a chasseur sauce, at least I can make that the night before. Have a lovely Christmas and best wishes for 2025
Good to be organised - sounds like you have been busy. Hope you continue to feel better over the Christmas period and that you enjoy it all. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
You sound very organised. We have the Tractor Parade for the first time on Saturday where I live ….. so looking forward to seeing it. Merry Christmas x
Excellent news re the Azathioprine helping. I was prescribed it years ago, mainly as a steroid sparing agent, I had GCA at the time, and it helped so much. Unfortunately when they increased to the max dose, it affected my liver, so was switched to methotrexate. We have a local company who do home cooked meals, then freeze them for your convenience. I always have a few in the feeezer, for days when the pain or exhaustion are severe. This year they’ve branched into Xmas meals. I’m not mad on Turkey, so I’m having venison Wellington and all the trimmings. My daughter usually promises to help, she was a chef before changing to law. However, usually gets distracted with whatever she got for Christmas 😂, so I end up doing it, so opted for this easy version.i am making dessert, as none of them are keen on Xmas pudding, so baking a double chocolate, raspberry and pistachio roulade. I’m organised as well, with the exception of wrapping presents. I make my own crackers, with special gifts in them, and even have a local craft lady who made fabrics hats with festive patterns 😂.
Hope you continue to feel better day by day. Wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas, and a happy new year 🤗🎄⛄️
Sounds like you are good at crafts so I admire you but have 2 left hands. Can't knit, don't own a sewing needle, husband wraps presents and although I bake really well, I don't decorate apart from butter cream filling and topping. My granddaughter is coming to decorate the cake tomorrow with cut out frozen snow flakes. That the Lord for Amazon ! and fondant icing. lol I've never had venison but like beef and know I like horse as eaten that in France. It's strange as the consultant said I can give you a small dose of steroid or arrange for the injection every 3 months but I said I'd prefer the AZA it suits me and seems to really work. Roulade sounds yummy and my son that had a fortune spent on his education at Uni and has a degree in Electronic Engineering never seems to be able to mend my bits or have enough time to change a plug unless bribed with chocolate or sausage rolls. Thats why we think he studied beer ! Do have lovely time and best wishes ML xx
Sorry, only just seen this. I’m not crafty at all, I have hand tremors, which neurology say are idiopathic and due to the long term steroids. The fabric hats I bought at a craft fair. I’ve put my hand to so many crafts, and given in due to my shaky hands
Hope your hand is not too painful, and you’re able to enjoy Christmas, with everyone doing errands for you. Best Wishes, Runrig 🎄⛄️
So happy for you. Enjoy every minute of it. Someone said to me a long time ago. "If things go well, find excitement in small things. Be a child again". It sounds like you are doing just that! Party, party.Have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year.
We had our tractor run on Wednesday all highly decorated and playing Christmas music, we have a bigger run in May, organised by young farmers. I'm off to my son's this year. Have a lovely Christmas and Happy New Year to you all.
