Sorry if this has been asked a thousand times but I have just tested positive for covid but too late to contact rheumatology and its my Methotrexate evening. What advice have others received, should I miss a week?

yes, you shouldn’t take any immunosuppressants till you feel well again. Depending on what else you are on, you n me why be eligible for anti virals, which you get by contacting 111

Sorry to hear this. I came down with a terrible cold, sore throat and ear ache on Monday morning. I rang the rheumatology nurses who rang me back and said to hold off on my biologic injection until I am fully better. Woke up this morning and I can’t move my left wrist it’s so swollen so luckily I had some steroid tablets left over so I’ve just had to take some to take the edge off. I’ve bought some greens powder and I am having two scoops in a glass of water each morning to try to help me to recover and get well sooner.

Just remembered I had asked my rheumy nurse about colds before I knew it was covid and she said carry on with ra meds with a cold unless you get a chest infection or other complications. I guess there is different advice across the NHS.

If you are likely to have a flare if you stop your medication for RA, then it's better to stay on, but if you can get away with a short break your immune system will be in a better position to fight off the Covid infection. It's always a balance between the two which is unique for you.

sorry you Covid I would hold the biological til you improve. Can you get some Paxlovid? It’s the antiviral for Covid. If you’re able to take it you do improve quicker. Best wishes
