I have GCA and I had hair loss while on Fosomax (alendronade). It is a side effect of this drug and is so indicated in the pamphlet which comes with the drug. My rheumy did not know this until I showed the pamphlet to him.
He suggested we stop Fosomax for 3 months to see if the hair grows back. It did start to grow back.
I have also been taking taking liquid collagen with biotin and now 9 months later my hair is actually thicker than it was before. I order it on line.
Also, I am taking the liquid form of calcium with Mag. It is so much easier than dealing with the large calcium pills. I also order on line.
I found losing hair very hard on my self image and it depressed me, even more than the moon face.

Hi Groda. Maybe you should try the PMR GCA forum for answers, you've posted in the rheumatoid arthritis forum. If you type GCA in the search box at the top of the page and click on Communities, you should find it. All the best. 🙂
Hiya Groda, what is the liquid collagen with Biotin product name? I could do with some hair thickening because my RA meds have caused some loss. Thanks
I am currently in Florida and have ordered my collagen/biotin on line from Amazon.
It is by Zena Nutrition and comes in a magenta colored bottle (20.3 oz). If you go on Amazon and search collagen/biotin a few come up. I picked this one because it was a fast delivery date. I used to have 3 visible cowl licks--now my hair is thicker and they are no longer noticeable. My husband has started taking it too in the hopes of thickening his hair.
