yes this normal some people also get flushing.

My story

I prefer the injection than the oral tabs as they send me loopy and I could eat for England. The injection doesn’t always work straight away but it does with in the week. For Me it makes one hell of a difference as I have inflammatory Arthritis and many joints and tendons are involved and the injections help my whole body. I only had one injection not work I generally get 6-12 weeks relief.

Hope it works for you

Agree with J1707’s comments. I’ve had many, many depot shots over 30+ years and some work immediately, others take a few days but they’ve all worked without exception for a good amount of time. I’m also on oral pred but sometimes I just need that boost that the i.m. 120 ml gives you.

Everyone reacts differently though to all the drugs we’re dosed with so give yourself time to absorb this latest one and I hope it works well for you.

I have had both injections and tablets. They are sometimes the only thing that has worked, especially early on in trying to find medications. I do have to pay attention to my food intake as steroids make me unable to judge when I should stop eating and also want to nibble between meals. Otherwise I've not had problems. But they are powerful things with lots of long term side effects, so I hope you can find some treatment that works so that you don't need them!

I had one a month ago. And it worked within a couple of hours. But I then went back to normal life at 100 miles an hour and within a week I found that it wasn’t as effective. Now a month later I am still taking tablets as well and am finding that I am still struggling in the morning until I’ve taken the tablet (5mg)

Yes they worked for me within a day or 2, both into my joint and into my butt, like a miracle drug! My main side effect was a really flushed hot face for a couple of days and also they make me soooo hungry 😞 I will try not to have steroids again though unless I really really need it because of the hunger issue, fortunately for me right now the MTX seems to be doing the job.

From my experience, they are very hit & miss….one time they can work really well & the effect can last a month or two…..or worst case scenario they don’t work at all.

In other words they affect everyone differently. It is nobodies fault & there appears to be no way of knowing how one will react.

I hope you are one of the lucky ones.
