Hello everyone! I’m at the end of the road with metatarsal pain and hammer toe. I’ve had toe fusion in the past but toes have just drifted again and they are are very painful. My surgeon suggests amputating the middle hammer toe and then arthroplasy on the metatarsals. I need some advice please has anyone had these procedures and what was the recovery and outcome.
Many thanks

hi CherryBlossom, I had this surgery in February and all went very well. I was just in overnight and was already putting weight on my foot. I had a follow up about 2 weeks later and had the stitches removed, I didn’t feel a thing. I was seen again 3 weeks later and discharged from the clinic plus I was able to wear my normal shoe to leave the hospital. I was driving a week after the surgery but I have an automatic car.
I wish you well and hope you have the same experience I did. Take care x
If I may make a comment on this answer, I would just like to say what a great, positive outcome to your surgery and wonderful news for Cherryblossom. I'm sure you will have made her day. x
