After giving work up nearly 5 years ago now I am delighted to start training as a volunteer online at home for Cats Protection.
I already feel I can use my brain sorting enquiries out and engaging with the very small team and customers and just feel like I am doing something again. Its a small start but I am happy with this and asked if I can pop to the branch to meet the main 2 volunteers/staff just to put faces to names etc.
This photo is our Oreo next to her favourite bird 'Kevin the Bantam' - she walks up and touches him with her nose when she goes to bed near him its very sweet to watch.

Awww, that will be lovely. I have two rescue cats from Egypt. My Mary and Lady Grace of Norwich. They’re gorgeous but still quite tricky. Hope it all goes well for you.
Two cats lying in a radiator bed. One tabby lying behind a calico cat
Lovely cats. Bet they can’t believe how cold it is on Norfolk compared to Egypt🥶 we used to have a radiator bed and our two used to love cuddling up together up on that.
Those radiator beds are great aren't they. I can't prise them off it and I swear they can smell when the heating's about to come on as they bounce in about a minute before it clicks on.
Enjoy! It's good to feel useful, and to help others. My cats join me in wishing you well with this volunteering ( just don't get pulled in to doing too much!!)
Volunteer work is great for the self-esteem..I have done lots after I was made redundant due to being in and out of hospital. I have so much to give, it frustrates me. Enjoy your new role. I'm sure the cats will be pleased xx
How lovely to hear about volunteering for Cat's Protection and interesting to learn it's on line. I'm going to look into this for myself.I live in Crete, where cats are dreadfully neglected. I try to do my bit, I've got 4 'foundlings' (abandoned as kittens at the bins) at home plus others I regularly feed.
Definitely worth looking at and its good to get the brain cogs doing other stuff too. We attract others cats and Hector who we have not seen since we moved across the road made an entrance yesterday. Our 3 sniffed and walked out in protest as Hector a grumpy chap but we know he has a family buy toddlers and a new puppy means he comes to ours to hang now and again.
Thank you for the lovely photo of Oreo, cheeky as ever by the looks of things.
I'm sure you will enjoy using your brain and the fact it's cats just adds to the pleasure. Just heed Fruitandnutcase's advice - probably just as well it's working from home!! x
