What does it feel like when a flare up comes to an end? Do they ever come to an end of their own accord or are extra/different drugs always neede to bring a flare under control?

Flares come & go….some just fade away..some need a steroid injection….or a Dmard dose increase,,,,,but believe me you will know when it is coming to an end!
I'm imagining it's different for everyone but if it's not settling speak to someone medical about additional medication. You should feel "normal" when it stops. Tbh there were times when I thought I was going from one flare to another, the pain just moved round. However, remember you don't have to suffer.. speak to your rheumatology team or GP and get more drugs.
The simple answer is that all the symptoms of a flare up i.e. pain, tiredness, feeling down etc go away. Sometimes they decrease slowly and sometimes you can wake up the following morning and feel very much better. As AgedCrone said you will certainly know.
Hi I’m new here I have RA I’m (stero positive)I’m having flare after flare in so sick of feeling poorly with it and so tired.I feel like it’s stole my life away from me,I can’t plan as I don’t know how I will feel I’m so fed up.I take metratrexate 15 ml (injection form)and sulfazalizine. My CRP was 30 then 26 then on Wednesday it was 12 so coming slowly down, but I still feel like I’m in a flare!!.I have iron deficiency anemia and take 3 iron pills a day and my ferritin levels was really low.I have been like this since 2021 do you have any good advice in so desperate
Thank you
I see KittyJ has told you about starting a new post which would be better, but my reply to you is that I really feel for you, you have so much going on. I can only suggest that you contact both your GP and rheumatologist to let them know how bad you are feeling. You will start to feel better as your anaemia is treated and your flare starts to diminish but in the meantime I do think you need to speak to someone. Sending healing hugs and best wishes. Keep in touch and let us know how you get on.
Mine have faded out gradually so each day a bit more bearable then you suddenly look back and think - it’s gone! I can enjoy my life again!
I’ve have had a flare recently and when I had bloods taken my inflammatory markers were very raised. I have palindromic rheumatism and my pain was in all my joints but especially my knees. I had a steroid injection on Monday and luckily it has worked and I feel much better.
