Hi.

Decided Methotrexate and sulfasalazine are not for me.

Both have ended in chest infection.

Wondered if anyone has tried CBD and if so what brand.

Thanks Alf

Happy New Year

I have used CBD drops with limited success but with prescribed meds because that alone won’t stop joint damage.

I do have CBD drops, but not convince pd they do anything!

You might have got chest infections anyway even without MTX and Sulpha! You run much greater risks with uncontrolled inflammation, especially for your heart.

I tried it for Shingles pain, and used a tiny amount on area but a few minutes later could taste it. Even when my husband applied it for me I could still taste it. It’s vile and never even worked despite being very expensive. It must be different for the prescribed stuff but the OTC didn’t do anything. However I passed it on and my friend used it on her knuckles and said it was wonderful. So who knows?

I have tried several. Mostly from CBD Brothers. I’ve tried drops, paste and ones with the ‘high’ left in. Unfortunately none worked for me, but some people say it’s amazing so worth a try as you may be fortunate 🤞🏼🤞🏼

I tried CBD one night felt horrendous it could have been something else but was a bit scared to take anymore. To be honest I'm fairly confident all the hype is based on flimsy evidence.

If you genuinely feel the prescription meds are ineffective, they often take three months to help, or the side effects are awful speak to your rheumatology team. There are lots of different options.

Prescription medication can be working in ways that you can't appreciate and it can take years to get the right combination of medication for you.

Rheumatology diseases are not quick fix. I'm six years in and not sorted. This is for the long term unfortunately.

I haven't used it myself but I know people who have and from what I hear, I think you would be wasting your money.

I tried it briefly (orally) during a long flare - it had no effect on me at all - but I became very suspicious when I read the list of ‘celebrity’ ‘sponsors ‘— hmmmmm

Another no vote from me. Tried several different drops, massage oil, tablets. Didn't do anything.I'd go back to your rheumy and tell them how you feel and that you want to try something else.

Speak to your rheumy & tell him you need more help….& would he/she be supportive of you trying CBD.

It’s usually not a good idea to add or subtract any substance to the prescribed drugs you are taking without having a word with the doctors treating you.

tried oral drops. Not worked for me. I have always taken natural remedies throughout my life for various ailments too. Checking with Rhumy nurse and GP I do take curcumin Tumeric and black pepper) great for RA stiffness. But I also take methotrexate. Exercise too.

Have a look at the treatment pages on the NRAS website: nras.org.uk/information-sup...

You should really be on some medication that is going to prevent your Rheumatoid Disease from progressing and affecting the functioning of your body. It's a condition that hardy ever just 'goes away' but can affect every part of your body.

Relying on something that basically just supresses the pain will not tackle the underlying cause and prevent damage to your joints, your heart, and every part of your body.

I was taken off all RA meds for awhile, so like you I was interested to try CBD, I went to see a specialist in CBD & prescribed some for me, but I decided against is as he explained it can cause your heart to race, something I didn’t want to experience in the middle of the night. I did try weaker over the counter stuff & it didn’t touch the sides. I did ask my Rheumatologist & he was supportive of trying it but as I say I was off all meds at that time. Give it ago it could help you, but I am also with many here RA needs controlling as it is very disruptive to our bodies is not just aches & pains. All the best..
