I take 100mcg levothyroxine at approx. 6am daily . At 4pm today I took half a pipette of over the counter CBD Oil which had the immediate effect of raising my heartbeat just as I used to experience when at the dentist I received injections for anasthaesia which contained adrenalin .( I now know to ask for an injection which does not contain adrenalin if taking Thyroxine as advised by Guys Hospital.) My other medications are 5mg Prednisolone daily and Atorvastatin 20mg plus Omeprazole.
Is it advisable to continue with the CBD? I will not take another dose until I have your advice.

You need to speak to your doctors to confirm whether or not it is something you can take with the meds you’re on. No one here can advise you on whether you can take it or not.
Trouble is you don’t know what else is in it. I tried the cream once and could taste it despite it only being rubbed on my back. It didn’t work a complete waste of £60. I’m sure a lot is in the mind, if you think it works it just might and no one can really advise you. As for me it was rubbish but I passed to a friend who said it worked on her OA hands, so who knows? Xxx
I also tried CBD a couple of years ago. Researched it thoroughly and paid quite a lot of money (£80) …... it smelt like farmyard manure, tasted only slightly less so … and made no difference at all. Luckily my prescription drugs have settled my RA and I don’t need to look for anything else.
One thing I am puzzled over I’ve been taking thyroxine for over 30 years had lots anaesthesia at the dentist and hospital including Guys in London it’s never ever been mentioned. I take 150mcg.
Perhaps worth asking? My dentist is a qualified doctor so he knew at once when I first registered with him that adrenaline should not be administered when patient is taking thyroxine. Previous dentists were not aware.
I would be reluctant to take whilst on prednisolone. Prednisolone switches off the HPA axis, as your body recognises it’s getting cortisol elsewhere. CBD will lower your cortisol, so it eats into what you’ve taken orally. One of the many symptoms of lowering cortisol is heart rate increasing. I have severe adrenal insufficiency from long term steroids, where my adrenals have atrophied from steroid use. I had no choice, they are the only treatment for polymyalgia and GCA.
It may be worth asking your gp to check your cortisol levels between 8-9 am, before you take your morning steroids, to see if your HPA axis is producing any cortisol. Even if it is, it is likely to be much lower, as it can take up to a year for the HPA axis to recover after taking steroids. Low cortisol if not corrected can lead to an adrenal crisis, which is what happened to me, resulting in a severe stroke in my case. Other meds like opiates can also reduce cortisol as well as steroid inhalers, and even some steroid creams. So I would certainly be speaking with your pharmacist & rheumatologist. Too many people assume things purchased over the counter are safe to take with other meds, when they are not. Turmeric is another supplement that can cause issues with other meds. If you google cbd and cortisol, ignore the ones talking of “adrenal fatigue”, which is not a recognised condition, but adrenal insufficiency is, and can be deadly.
I wouldn’t use it especially if you had that reaction. Like M-L says you don’t know what is in it and you don’t know how it will react with your other drugs. You could speak to your GP or pharmacist but I imagine they would probably advise against taking it.
