super juice
What is Super Juice?
I'm not sure, but last year after collapsing in Tenerife with food poisoning but recovered after a hospital stay covered by travel insurance, I have a vague memory of posting about coconut water to boost your electrolytes and improve your blood tests re kidney function [ it is high in potassium] but that's all. I'm unlikely to have used the term 'super juice' tho'. I've also mentioned pink grapefruit juice to speed up your metabolism depending on what meds you take - NEVER take it if on Statins tho' Best wishes
I’m sorry but potassium is bad for kidneys, I mean really bad. Hence bananas, grapes and cola etc are banned for people like me with CKD.
That's true but people without ckd do need a healthy amount of potassium and it's likely that an episode of food poisoning can cause a low K. If your potassium is too low or too high it can cause arrhythmia as I'm sure you know. I'm on medications that lower potassium and use coconut water as a low sugar method of maintaining my electrolytes. I find it really refreshing. But you are completely correct, people with any level of CKD should be careful with potassium, if not on a strict low potassium diet.
Do you mean Smart Water? Available from supermarkets which is supposed to have energy boosting powers for runners? I’ve seen it at £3 a bottle and not bought it.
