I’m so sorry to hear how much pain you still have.

I’m glad I have had my first Shingrix jab and the appointment to get the second dose is tomorrow! I tried to get them a bit earlier but at that time was told impossible before age 70. So good to hear the news recently that it will be made available earlier for some.

My Mum was elderly and had many co-morbidities (spelling?) so her experiences may not mirror yours. She was on so many meds and it was 30 years ago so forgive me for not remembering. Your GP would be the expert you need for advice. My sincere sympathies. It's a nasty condition.

Really sorry to hear that you've had such bad pain after shingles. I remember the last attack I had it was the pain that made me look for the blisters which didn't appear for several days afterwards. Fortunately for me, once on the antiviral, the pain went fairly rapidly.

So very sorry to hear you’ve been in so much pain for so long. Shingles can be particularly vicious especially if you have post-herpetic pain which is what it sounds like.

I had Shingles about nine years ago but luckily my wonderful GP gave me anti-virals straight away which stopped the nerve pain. I would also urge anyone to get whichever vaccination against Shingles is recommended for their particular circumstance as a bit of discomfort from that for a few days is nothing compared to Shingles itself.

Do hope you find some comfort soon. All the very best.

A couple of years ago I went into the doctors for a BP check it was a young untrained assistant I saw, no problem, she asked could she give me a flu jab I agreed she also wanted to give me a shingles jab, she did not know that some people can't have live vaccine. Very worrying if she'd seen a patient who wasn't knowledgeable. It's important to understand as much as possible about your own health and treatments. I do try xxx
