I am claiming PIP due to arthritis in lower back. Since then I am waiting for a formal diagnosis for Rheumatoid arthritis.
I am due for review late next year for PIP. As now a pensioner am I still entitled to show my change of circumstances in the last year? For example limited mobility and more dependence on my husband who is classed as carer who has to do more for me?
TIA.

My husband had a review at 68 so I wouldn’t rule anything out. They reduced his payment a lot by a phone review . We took it up to the tribunal and won it back. If he had lost that he wouldn’t have got it back. He lost the mobility award a few years ago but wasn’t well enough to even try to get it back but had a bit more fight in him this time. Now at 69 he is not going to get any better. I’m hoping the new Adult Disability Payment instead of PIP will be a bit fairer especially on older people. One can only live in hope, PIP will keep trying to cut you down at any age.
Are you in England? If you are in receipt of PIP that continues as before after you reach retirement age. At each review they look at the whole claim so the award can go either up or down. You can't start getting the mobility component if you are not already getting it and you can't move to the enhanced rate from the standard rate. If you are in Scotland you will move to ADP. Yes you can still claim. I am now 71 and have OA. When my PiP was changed from DWP to PIP I had to re apply. I have a number of other health issues but my mobility and care are the thing I applied for it for. They will try everything to take it away from you.. Stay strong get as much evidence you can. I went through the citizen Advice who filled all the forms and fought my case. The CA were marvellous.. However PIP still reduced my mobility component so I lost my car which made me house bound. I'm in a wheelchair. Don't give up. I went to tribunal twice. First time the raised it a little but still I did not have my car. The second time after going through their reasoning very carefully we had them on points of law. I now get full PIP which was reinstated for at least 10 years and when its reviews it will only ask if there are any changes. I hope this is helpful. It took one hell of a fight but it was worth it. Unfortunately a lot of disabled people are not capable of fighting and walked over. The DWP are not fit for purpose and see the disabled as easy targets. Living with a disability is not easy and you should not have to fight for what is rightfully yours. Best of luck.
10 years. That's what the tribunal court said and they seem to be sticking to it. I think my review is in 2028. It took a long time to fight them and the first tribunal was gruelling. I'm in a wheelchair and they seemed to think it wasn't mine although it had been provided by the local authority. They cut the hearing short and did not seem to be interested in anything I had to say. It seemed that they had made their mines up before I got there. The second hearing was like having a friendly chat with friends. They backdated all the money I was owed.
Wow! I am so glad to got it sorted! The cheek they have, awful to think they believe people would lie about their health problems. How did you take it to tribunal? Was it difficult?
Not to difficult but time consuming. I was helped by the CA all the way. They were excellent. What really angers me is that it seem to be policy to remove people regardless of their health conditions. I think that bloody mindedness from me played a large part and knowing I was right. I also had copious amounts of medical evidence. My advice is to fight all the way.
I would double check this, but I believe Daily Living Component can be increased (Standard to Enhanced), but not Mobility Component, once you have reached ‘State Retirement Age’.
You can still be reviewed despite passing ‘State Retirement Age’. I would start gathering medical evidence now of any changes since your last PIP Award. Join ‘Benefits and Work’ for fuller information.
