Got back from menorca on Wednesday and had been sunbathing and swimming in a cool pool. Joints weren't too bad.Now here in England yesterday and today my hands hurt, my knees and hip hurts even my ankles are hurting. Is it our humid heat do you think? They've just upped my Sulfasalazine too. Now on 2 am 3 pm then next week 3 am and pm.
Ok in menorca heat but not here? : Got back from... - NRAS
Ok in menorca heat but not here?
definitely humidity. Humidity stops me in my tracks . Dry heat I’m not too bad
I find travelling causes my joint to hurt so maybe it's that. I've never altered my Sulfasalazine dose without permission.
a lot of it is psychological as well. I always feel better on holiday as not worrying about x, or y or z.
I think maybe the humidity. Its awful today for example. I expect the swimming helped too.
I find I cope better on holiday in Italy, than I do here in England.
I dunno- I m waiting on a knee replacement and it’s been great with this heat just now - really mobile again .
Dry heat is best for me.
Humidity or damp hits me hard 🥹
definitely humidity and/or air pressure or altitude. Whenever I visit my family in Germany (dry heat and at about 600m) my joints do not hurt at all. A day or two after I’m back in London, it starts again.
Definitely agree with others that our high humidity is a major factor. These last few days in the South East have seen humidity at 88% and on these days, I wake to painful shoulders, elbows and feet. My lower back is in severe pain as soon as I stand still. We had slightly lower humidity a few days ago , and my pains are considerably less that day. Dreading a long humid summer.
it must be the humidity … I am so much better when I’m over in Spain … so I go as often as I can. It’s the only thing that gives me relief is that dry warm heat . Oh … I wish I was there today 😩
oh yes! Better value than buying stuff 😁
Well to do Victorian’s spent their winters in south of France to get relief for arthritis… they had the right idea 💡 Maybe the Nhs could open some respite centres for us there 😂
If you set up a petition I will sign 😄
🤣🤣🤣🤣 still waiting for a hip injection where waiting time is 6 to 12 months so I don't think they'd go for it 🤣🤣🤣
When I was first diagnosed, what I really needed was a Convalescence Home for a few months. Sitting in a bath chair by the sea, getting my meals prepared for me would have done me the world of good…
I agree, when I have been away to Tenerife my joints feel better and in general the dry heat is much nicer to cope with. The flights however are very stressful. I’m thinking of going on a cruise next year instead. Summers here in the UK make me really ill and I don’t think having Fibro helps with the heat or cold. We’ve bought a portable air conditioning unit which helps on very bad days.
I bought one last year. just setting it up 😊 hubby just said would living by the sea help...
thank goodness it’s not just me! My knees & shoulder pain has been awful! I thought sunshine made it better. Not been abroad since 2019 so maybe I need to try that 😀
