I have complex and overlapping auto-immune diseases. I have been given a recent diagnosis of Rheumatoid Serositis. My Respitory Consultant and my Rheumatologist have made this diagnosis. I would like to know if there is anyone dealing with this condition and if there is a known Specialist in the UK that could help me as there are difficulties for me due to a number of other health issues. My lungs and abdomen are both affected and currently, following lots of tests, my heart is ok.
Thank you.

Sorry I don’t know about this condition but just to say hope someone else can assist you on Health Unlocked. Have you asked this on the lung/respiratory groups? Hope you get some helpful replies and can stay steady with your health. 💗
I hope the respiratory consultant will be monitoring you closely and considering what meds could assist if appropriate. Yes, I think the lung/respiratory groups are a good place to ask re experiences too re the serositis. They have helped me re bronchial issues. Think there is a HU group called Lung Conditions Community. I haven’t joined that one or used them but recall seeing them.
I have recently been diagnosed with Serositis. I was on adalimumab and had reoccurring pneumonal infections over nearly a year. I was taken off Adalimumab and was referred to lung specialist and immunologist who then diagnosed Serositis and between them and my Rheumatologist they decided to put me on Orencia (Abatacept) as its kinder to the lung, and I take prophylactic doxycycline 100mg a day. I've been on it for 12 weeks now and my RA symptoms are settling, I had a slight cold a few weeks and that inflamed my lung instantly. I think if I wasn't on the AB I would have had an infection and would have had to come of the RA treatment but I guess that why they put me on AB's along side the Orencia. The Orencia does not seem to be reducing inflammation in the lung that much as it still hurts to cough and take deep breaths but I had a CT scan in April that showed that my lung had improved and the drug can take up to a year to work. I'd be interested in how you get on with finding a specialist and any resolutions if they exist!
Hi jobredin. Thank you for getting in touch. I'm so sorry that you have this diagnosis but glad to hear that you are seeing some improvement. I will get back in touch with you later today as I have an appointment just now. Hope the sunshine is helping you.
