Rheumatoid Nodules

Hi - I'm new here so bare with me

So after a year of tests, many painkillers and being passed from doctor to doctor, i have received a diagnosis of rheumatoid nodules. There's about 12 of them all varying in size on my foot. They ache, they get hot and i have weekly flare ups.

I'm waiting to see a Dr at the rheumatology clinic next month, but am curious of a few things so im hoping someone can shed some light for me.

Ive got the nodules confirmed as rheumatoid nodules, however i have not tested positive for RA from blood tests and i have no other significant pain, I get achy knees but i put that down to an active lifestyle. The Dr says i dont have RA just the nodules, but the nodules are usually a sign of actually having RA. (basically they still aren't 100% sure what and why)

Has anybody been told anything similar or had a similar diagnosis. I've started to worry as he said uts a high chnace that i will develop RA.

Hi pupledinosaur

I started with the nodules on my fingers and like you I was being passed from dr to dr I finally saw a Rheumatology consultant last year and have just been diagnosed with RA my bloods were all over the place. I have been on medication for a year and my hands feel better I don’t get as many flare ups. Although getting used to the meds took a while. I hope you get a diagnosis soon and feel better

Thankyou - i think the most frustrating thing is the fact that they keep passing me form Dr to Dr saying they dont know - But hopefully now the lumps have been diagnosed at rheumatoid nodules they will have a better understanding and know what is happening

Hi

when I saw the rheumy she said straight away what it was although called it inflammatory arthritis I was there all afternoon for more xrays and blood tests and then back to her.

Hopefully the rheumy you see will be as thorough. If not ask for x rays, they had been done previously but the rheumy said they need to X-ray both hands and then both feet together.

Write down everything you want to ask. I hope you get a diagnosis. Onceyou get that it’s amazing how the GP listens. Lol not cynical at all. Let me know how you get on.

Good luck

I have nodules come up in my fingers but of course no one know what they are. I use Castro’s oil in a roller bottle a number of times a day and reducing pain

Hi corrective

Have you had xrays if not insist your gp sends you for some that’s how mine was diagnosed. It was amazing how quickly I was sent to see a rheumatologist after that.
