Psp friend fallen

my friend with Psp has fallen and now is off to hospital a broken hip looks a likely diagnosis. This last year her balance has got a lot worse . Another friend is an amazing carer virtually 24/7 incontinence, meals, washing, appointments, and a million other things. I am not sure of posting here I guess other than feeling helpless against an illness that seems very progressive. It is her first major fall with a break . I know know one knows the future but with her weakness in her balance so poor will this mean she will never walk again? Could someone tell us what can happen next? A present she can eat and drink and ha# been getting very good nutrition. I do think that not walking again will break her heart. Any information would be helpful. As I say just at a loss. We have only known she has psp since this time last year although I think she has had the illness for 2 or 3 years but this psp is such a sneaky illness in showing it’s symptoms.

Hi Newbones. There is a PSP community on Healthunlocked. If you type PSP in the Search bar top right of this page, then click on communities on the next page, you will see the PSP Association community. You can then click on join to become a member and talk to the members about the condition. All the best to you and your friend.

My aunt had psp. It is a horrible disease. My aunt initially had a carer at home but as the disease progressed she went into a private care home. It got to the stage she lost the power of speech so she had a kind of speak and spell gadget to talk to us.

Hi that’s very sad for her ,?try and keep positive as I think they will get the falls team involved to help with advice and aids , the most important thing is that she doesn’t give up , small steps lead to big , good luck 🤞
