Covid vaccination & on antibiotics & steroids.

I have booked in to have my 6th Covid booster this coming Friday 11th. However I now have a chest infection & was put on both antibiotics & prednisone tablets yesterday. I know you are not doctors but do you think it is safe for me to have the Covid vaccination? I am already overdue for this one because I was in hospital & had to cancel it before.

As KittyJ says, definitely one for the medics, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they said no, you need to wait. You have an acute illness on top of (I’m assuming) taking immunosuppressant drugs. Adding a vaccine into the mix would seem like a bad idea: your immune system is already occupied, so anything that detracts from your body trying to fight off the infection is potentially going to make you more unwell and/or delay your recovery time, and my understanding is that it may also result in a poorer response to the vaccine, so less protection overall from covid.

Hello holly willow. Would definitely wait till it's cleared. I had 4 Pffizer jabs, no reaction and 1 Moderna . The Moderna I had a reaction to and felt poorly for about a week, so I reckon be at your best for it. Just my opinion. Hope you feel a lot better soon. Lots of love
