My 33 year old son had his 3rd vaccination cancelled due to lack of staff. It was rescheduled for this week but now he’s ill with covid so cannot have it. He’s not CEV but several family members are, my daughter in law with MS, my Dad with Non Hodgkinsons Lymphoma, my step Father after triple heart bypass to list a few. Anyway upon trying to reschedule his 3rd vaccination he’s been told it’s no longer available!
DOES THIS SOUND RIGHT?
No, most definitely not.
That’s what I think, I may have to intervene as he’s not assertive and just accepting it. Found out from my other son that my 8 year old granddaughter tested positive today which is worrying as my daughter in law is ill pending diagnose of MS so perhaps vulnerable.

From NHS ENGLAND Maybe you should call 119 to clarify in your son’s circumstances
“People with COVID-19 who have symptoms should wait to be vaccinated until they have recovered from their illness and have met the criteria for discontinuing isolation; those without symptoms should also wait until they meet the criteria before getting vaccinated”
They are not offering him vaccination 3 regardless of a thing else
You say your son has Covid now…..is that right?From what I understand nobody who is testing positive for CV19 can be vaccinated against it. As NHS England says they have to wait until they meet the criteria…..so you need to check that.
I don’t know if that means until they test negative, or because it is thought having had the virus they are protected.
But of course such a person can -I think- still pass on the infection which is your worry.
So if you call 119 and explain the situation……you will be able to find out the answer when/if he can get his 3rd vaccination once he tests negative.

Yes thank you, I understand.Where he lives in Kent appointments for 3rd vaccinations have ceased to be offered except for those CEV.

But as he is in contact/living with vulnerable people, there may be a way……..have you asked NRAS if they can help….they must have somebody they can get advice from.But when you think about it…vaccinating somebody for a disease they already have….could send their immune system into overdrive as it is already working at full tilt from his first two vaccinations plus the effects if the actual disease virus.

I’d ask the vulnerable people your son lives with to ask their doctors what they can do to help…..
The advice is not to have a covid vaccine till at least a month after you contracted covid. Does your son live with any of the CEV?, as that is one of the criteria to other members of the household getting a 3rd. Even if he can’t have a 3rd dose, he is still entitled to a booster, in a months time. I’m in Kent and the CCG are still advertising 1st, 2nd, 3rd or boosters at all their walk-ins.

Ah….if he doesn’t actually live with your family who are so vulnerable it looks as if he will have to steer clear of them until he is testing negative doesn’t it?But do investigate how long he should stay clear.
I have a 28yr old daughter who visits me regularly. I’m on 5 immunosuppressants and / steroid inhalers, with numerous illnesses. She was told it is only available to other members of the household, and that she would need to show evidence of living at the same address. I know of many others who encountered the same response I suspect this may be the issue. He will still be entitled to booster, which will bring his antibodies back to the high level that healthy individuals get. The idea behind the 3rd dose was to boost the immunosuppresseds antibody levels up to a similar level as the rest of the public. The advice re household members being included was announced from what I can recall, before any decision about boosters. My daughter had her booster on the 4th Jan. So if he gets his booster in a month, he will be well protected again 🤗

This has been posted but just to reconfirm gov.uk/government/publicati... It may be when they say they aren't doing them they just mean at wherever he was booked previously so if he logs in to his NHS account he may need to look for somewhere else to go to get the booster after the 28 days. Hope they all get well soon.
