Dental work and vaccines

Hi everyone. I would welcome your comments. I have my flu jab booked for 5th October at 9.00am and some preparatory work for a crown at the Dentist at 2.30pm on the same day which will involve a local anaesthetic. I then have my 5th covid jab on the Sunday 9th October just four days later and then the proper crown fitted on 14th October, 5 days later. I have asked the Receptionist at the Dentist, the Pharmacist, the GP, the Butcher, the Baker and the Candlestick maker and no-one knows if it is ok to have these so close together. Is there anyone on here who knows the answer? If not I will try and change jabs. GP calling me back later today. Has anyone done the same? Thank you.

that’s a hell of a lot to take in, I would avoid the jab , it does decrease your immune system, every time you have a booster, it sounds like you need All the strength you can muster ! X

Thank you for your reply. I have just in the last 10 minutes had a call from my GP saying it is ok to go ahead with them all so at least I have someone to blame if it isn't.🤣🤣

I agree with your doctor in terms of safety and vaccine efficacy but in terms of feeling rough after all that, you may want to spread them. Having dental work can make your head and neck sore as can having the jab.

Part of me thinks it's better to have it all at once but we'll see. Thanks

Sorry my only advice is to ask your rheumatology team - but you may have done this already!

That’s good. I couldn’t think of a reason why not but always best to check.

I had my flu jab Tuesday, that alone, and I was flat out ill yesterday, I felt like, I had flu.

I have had past flu jabs and been fine, but not on this one, so I would space your appointments out.

Your immune system being dramatic.😀 I've got flu and covid on the same day same as last year.

I can't see why there should be any conflict between the procedures. But don't plan to do anything else! Your body will have quite enough to do!

I think so. Thank you.

It sounds as if you already know the answer, it sounds far to much for you to cope with in a short time.

Is it possible to delay your dental treatment?

It is a lot to take on even if you tend not to suffer side effects from vaccines. My mother had her booster covid jab last week and shes still out of it. Very tired, aching and not thing as clearly. She put off her flu jab to give herself a few weeks to recover from the covid vaccine.

teeth are funny! My dentist keeps telling me that although things are called minor they are an operation in your head!

He will not do anything in the same week as covid/flu/antibiotics.

This probably does not help - sorry😟

Really! That's interesting. I'm in a quandary again now. Thanks for telling me that, forearmed is forewarned.

when we had the first lock down one of my canine teeth went bad, I had to pull it out myself. A head operation is a good explanation. One of the few times i was glad I've got a spinal injury. It comes with some rather strong painkillers

A stubbed toe hurts but feels like a long way away. Tooth ach is to close.

My mother had a booster three weeks ago and is still not right tierd lathic, not thinking stight and still feels unwell. She managed to put off her flu jab until this week. Hopefully it wont be to much for her.
