Guttate Psoriasis
If you have psoriasis then it’s possible that you have psoriatic arthritis.
I have had a diagnosis of Stills disease since the late 1970s. Joint pain, swelling and stiffness with regular sore throat are the norm. Afternoon fever and flare is usual. I have other AI things like lichen sclerosis and interstitial which can accompany RA type illnesses apparently. My skin issue is long term and mainly on the torso but not in folds or creases. It could just be scherrobic keratosis….. I just need some relief from it as it’s sore, heat sensitive and flares in-line with joint pain and fever. Thanks for your reply.
I have PsA and frequently get guttate flares on my back and arms. Triamcinolone cream usually offers some relief from the burning and itching which comes with a flare up as the methotrexate and Humira don’t always keep it at bay, particularly during the warmer months. Actually going through a really bad flare up at the moment, but had to go off the DMARDs for a while due to a severe case of covid, my second bout in 2 1/2 months, so my PsA is really having its way with me at the moment.
RA/RD does dry your skin and can cause rashes/flaking. I got a summer sun prickly heat rash all over from Sulphasalazine years ago May to October, despite using SPF 50 and not actually sunbathing as I don’t. We can get very sensitive and need to look at different hypoallergenic products/lotions etc. Can you ask to see a dermatologist if it is a problem or maybe you see one already, if the doc can’t prescribe something? Your Psoriasis sounds like much more than a rash 😑 and I hope you can resolve it soon.
Thank you, I’m going to try E45 or ceraveve as they seem good?
I’ve not tried Ceraveve. E45 good products all round. My dry skin improved so much once RA under good control. Neutrogena’s easy absorbed spritz/spray 24 hour moisturiser is really good as is anything of theirs. (Just be careful putting anything such as bath creams into the bath or using in the shower in case of slipping.)
I seem to get unexplained rashes all the time. Have had one for the past year which dermatologist could not explain but says nothing to worry about. He does not have to live with the discomfort especially as it is in an intimate area.
Lichen sclerosis?
Now that is strange you should say that as saw gynae who diagnosed that and arranged a biopsy. When I went for the biopsy another gynae doing the procedure said it was nothing and discharged me without biopsy. That was when I saw a dermatologist privately who was equally unhelpful. So, given up now but it is uncomfortable. Perhaps I should tell my rheumy.
Well it CAN be associated with AI diseases as can many things do always best to check. There is no cure for LS and mine flares in-line with my other symptoms so when my joints hurt I know it’s time to apply the cream down there! I was prescribed clobetasol which works for me with no discernible side effects. I’ve even used that cream on my torso rash and it does relieve the itching but I’m off to the chemist today ti get something a bit gentler until I can get a proper diagnosis. Let me know how you get on 😀
Has anyone discussed Behcet's with you (as you have rashes on your lady parts? Maybe look up info on the web? Hope you don't mind me butting in... I'm looking for info on psoriatic arthritis myself and not usually on this site much. All the best, D
Husband was diagnosed with nodulus puritus which started every time he stopped methotrexate (he’s been on and off this for over 12 years) every time he goes back on methotrexate the itching/rash stops - his RD not active and with awful side effects he came off the drug again 2 years ago and this time with a combination of low dose steroid, Gabapentin and Fexofenodine (for allergies) the rash is under control but his RA specialist changed and new one didn’t like the steroids and wanted him back in methotrexate, which he doesn’t want - since reduced steroids his dry eyes/mouth/aches in different parts of his body came back (he had this in 2000 when diagnosed initially with paledromic rheumatoid then a few years later RA) and a doctor has finally diagnosed him with Sjogern Syndrome - al in all a mess that is taken 22 years to get to this point! Picture of the rash/what itching caused
My rash is not like that, thanks for sharing though, diagnosis by exclusion 😀
I suffer from psoriatic arthritis and psoriasis. The topical treatment that has worked best for me is Silkis (3 micrograms of calcitriol) with a moisturiser called Double Base. Best wishes.
Thank you.
Hi there.I suffer from Guttate psoriasis, mainly on legs and feet, elbows, knees, mine seems to have disappeared since on methotrexate, there like raindrops in appearance,
I use Dermol cream, to shower, and moisturise in. I've been on steroids in the past but don't need them now. Mine have permanently scared the shin area of my legs,
Sorry to hear that but thanks for sharing, mines mainly torso so still not sure of it’s type. I have lichen sclerosis so do wonder if it’s lichen Planus but it looks very different.I’m going to try and see my GP 🤣🤣 I’ll let you know if I find out anything useful.
Just re read my reply,I meant topical steroid creams, in the past. I will read up about the other conditions. I was only diagnosed with ra in June. But had the guttate psoriasis for 13 years, last few years seem to be clearing but then joint pains, it's strange as all could be connected some how, let me no how you get on 😊
Hi I have inverse psoriasis and PsA. I use Dermol too. It is excellent. Take care 💐💐
Hi thanks for sharing, I use it everyday, stops me itching and skin drying out, I will read up on inverse psoriasis, not heard of that one take care 😊
I had it in skin folds plus my legs and waist. It would bleed a lot when I walked. I'm on biologics now and it has cleared up but I still use dermol. I use it in the shower plus as a moisturiser. Psoriasis is so distressing. I can wear short sleeved tops now after years of hiding.
Take care. xx
Glad to hear yours has cleared up, here come t shirts 😃
Thanks for posting I will also look at Dermol, is it OTC or POM?
Hi. It's not a POM, but you have to get it from the pharmacy, they can order if for you, that's in boots pharmacy's tho, it's cheaper on prescription
Thanks, another 14 weeks until I’m old enough for free scripts.😝
Wow, you just made 😂 think there going to put it up to 66_67 soon, in line with retirement age, I've got no chance as I'm 53
