Just a short post to check if any else has applied for a covid passport and found the application process to be absolutely painful. At first I applied on the England site (silly me) and was thrown off - computer says ‘no’, then of course I realised that living in Wales I must apply to their website.
So got my NHS login and then it asked for loads of info - it wouldn’t recognise my digital face scan, so I’ve now uploaded a video of myself complete with a number they sent me ( NHS mug shots anyone!). How have your attempts been ?

Those cards unfortunately are not sufficient if you want to go to an event or for travel. You need to either phone 119, go on the NHS website or get the NHS app to get the official proof of vaccination. nhs.uk/conditions/coronavir...
If you are already registered on NHS Wales…you can get your Covid passport on that site.If not when you register you can give NHS Wales permission to use the photo on your passport or driving licence. You need to go to the next page…after the scan page if it’s the same as NHS England.
WhenI tried using the face scan..I ended up,with some very nice pics of my cushions!!!
Thanks for the email. My face scan didn’t work and I had to send a video instead. Talk about a complicated system, it would not come as a surprise that not many old people can navigate the software, especially if you don’t live in England.PS - I did it eventually!!
Is it only the Scottish NHS site that requires a photo? I’m in England and didn’t get asked for this on the NHS covid travel passport site ? Just checking in case I’ve done something wrong…. I’m still hopeful my holiday might go ahead on 28th December 🤞🤞
I “think” if you are already registered on the NHS site they will have your photo…but do make sure as there will be no leeway entering countries abroad…..as Pat9442 says ….call 119 & make sure.
I called the Covid passport helpline in Scotland today, surprisingly the wait time was only a few minutes and the call handler very helpful. All Covid 'passports' are presently being updated on the app, next week the website is being updated.
So all Scottish Covid passports will be up to date by the end of next week.
If you require an up to date Scottish Covid passport before then , you should contact the helpline - 0808 196 8565.
You can ask for a hard copy posted to you and this doesn't have a limited date on it. It lasts as long as the date of your second jab. They haven't yet put 3rd jabs on it.
If you are talking about the Covid Pass to travel….do 100% check that in good time before you travel ,because overseas entry officials will have no leeway….they will just deny you entry…& that could be expensive. Mine says…”The duration of its validity depends on whether you were tested or vaccinated”
I have one that shows dates of vaccinations and, where I'm visiting, as long as the date of the 2nd vac is within the year they accept it. It gives all the relevant info that you need.
Unfortunately I’m due a Rtx infusion so Iwon’t be travelling until at leastMarch/April - if then, & I expect everything will have changed by then….not only in UK but at overseas destinations.Don’t want to over load my geriatric brain finding floating info too soon🤗
Yes it will. What we needed to do before we came back into UK changed from when I booked tickets to now. Looks as if things might change again before next weekend.
Similarly annoying - but in the name of data protection and stopping COVID fraud. Once you’ve got the passport its easy to use. Had a few days in France recently and the QR codes were being checked at the door of every shop and cafe/restaurant and museum. Easy.
I found the process of applying for my Covid passport in Scotland surprisingly easy apart from the point where I had to enter the confirmation code. I wasn't convinced that the photo I took of my passport was going to work as the camera didn't seem to lock on to the image but it did work.
The Scottish app has been updated and now shows all three of my injections if I go into the international travel section.
I am still minimising contacts because I am on a biologic so haven't had to use the app for entry yet.
I uploaded the video to the appropriate site and waited, then received an email that confirmed it had been received with a wait time to get it processed. So thought no more about it, until last night, I received another email telling me I had passed the NHS security checks and I could use my NHS login to obtain covid passport. Great, I then went onto the Welsh NHS site and logged in to obtain my passport. The Welsh NHS site accepted my login and then told me I couldn’t download a passport as its only the English site that does this?! Long story short, after much faffing about I eventually downloaded the passport, and it’s now on my phone! Who ever designs NHS web sites must have a mind like a labyrinth, as the software is so convoluted.
My partner had to take and send a photo to do his but I didn’t have to do this, the only difference is that I am on patient access. I think I better query this. We are both wishing we hadn’t booked but we have paid for our holiday now.
