Hubby tested positive on Tuesday I started with symptoms on Wednesday but only tested positive this morning. Rang 119 told I should be contacted with 24hrs for antivirals but if I don’t 🤔ring my clinic or Gp. Both closed for the weekend. Was told to ring 111 if not heard after 24hrs . Within one hour had a phone call from an unidentified person who barely spoke English didn’t answer my questions just read off a script offering me antivirals privately… scammers are much quicker than the NHS.
Update. Heard nothing from NHS so Rang 111 eventually got through to someone who could help and one hour later was told sorry the antiviral department is closed over the weekend if you don’t hear in 48hrs ring 111 🤬or call an ambulance if your getting worse …….💩
Really sorry to hear you’ve got it and hope you can get the antivirals soon. It’s shocking the scammers are trying to take advantage of sick people like this. Do you feel well enough to take the trouble to report it? Thanks for warning us anyway. Get well soon. 🙏
Oh no J1707! Hope you get the antivirals soon. Bl***y scammers! My daughter rang me this morning and she has just tested positive too. This will be the 3rd time. She's a youth worker so comes into contact with all age groups. Fortunately for her the symptoms are mild so far.
Sorry to hear you have COVID J1707, hope you aren’t feeling too awful with it. Amazing that scammers will try to profit out of the worst of situations isn’t it? Thanks for the warning, and get well soon. X
Thanks for the warning. That’s all you need atm. Hope you don’t feel too unwell and get the antivirals promptly. Honestly I just don’t understand how anyone could be so callous to try to scam someone who’s sick, hopefully they’ll get what’s coming to them, karma has a funny way of working like that. Makes me so cross blooming scum of the earth. Keep us posted how you’re doing and get well soon.
This is dreadful, the nhs app is supposed to be encrypted so that your data is secure. This needs reporting. Hopefully you’ll hear soon re antivirals, although eligibility has changed recently. People on JAK inhibitors qualify, but those on tnf inhibitors don’t now, unless on other immunosuppressants. If they are on others the physicians at CMDU can assess your risk. This is apparently because they’ve found that the tnf inhibitors do not increase the risk of serious disease. Hopefully you only have mild symptoms 🤗
Hope you manage to get the anti virals. I have covid currently but couldn't face the hassle of chasing around for them. Not feeling much worse than usual, so hoping I'm almost over it now.
Hi J1707I’m so sorry to hear this and that you have Covid. I hope you and your husband come through everything ok with no lasting effects.
When I had Covid just two weeks ago now, I left a message for the Rheumy nurses on the help line.
They phoned back within two hours, explained that the following morning I would get a call from the virtual Covid ward who would take all details then a doctor would phone me.
I would then either have antivirals delivered or I would come in to the hospital for an infusion subject to which drug was a better fit so to speak, Paxlovid tablets or other antiviral tablets or Sotrovimab infusion. (/Paxlovid apparently interacts with Hydroxychloroquine so that was a no go)
I had the infusion administered 48 hours after testing positive.
I had no contact with my GP or 111.
I guess I have been very fortunate in where I live and have no complaints.
I really hope you get the antivirals within the 5 day window. Good luck.
