Flu shot

Just wondered if anyone had received notification of their flu jab? I received a letter today to say mine is tomorrow morning at 8.45 am - there's no mention of the Cover booster shot as well, so I expect that's not happening, tomorrow at least.

I was originally meant to be having the flu jab tomorrow but the surgery cancelled a couple of weeks ago - couldn't get the supplies. I had a text today telling me to rebook online but the pharmacy round the corner had some in stock so my husband and I had it done this morning.

My elderly neighbours who are at the same surgery are having their Covid boosters tomorrow but my initial jabs were quite a while after theirs so I don't expect to be called anytime soon.

Pleased you've had the flu shot. Yes, I'll be behind the elderly too, I think so will be sometime in the next couple of weeks I think.

Yes, your Covid booster has to be 6 months or more after your second dose, so it will depend on when your second dose was

Had mine done in boots last Friday. No use relying on my Gp. All good no side effects.

I got my flu jab today. But still no news on my third Covid vaccine dose as I need advice on timing when to have it from my RA consultant.

Has to be six moths or more after your second dose of the Covid vaccine

Yes but as I’m on Rituximab which is a strong immune suppressant it’s even more complicated. I have to wait until my B cells start to repopulate as well so that I can make some antibodies.

So am I 🤔

Yes

I had a call up to book for my 3rd covid jab, couldn't get an appointment. Then got another text saying they've run out of supplies and will have my covid and flu jab at the same time . They've suggested it will be October sometime.

Not sure if I really want both at the same time as was poorly with both the flu and 1st covid but then again maybe 2 birds one stone 🤷‍♀️

I booked mine for last week at the chemist as my GP always forgets me costs me £13 . But when I got there and she asked my date of birth , over 60 since last one she said it’s free , happy days jab done no charge , if I had waited for my GP it would have been at least January so I don’t bother with them they never even sorted my co-vid jabs I sorted them myself .

I received a text from my surgery saying that they won’t be doing flu or covid tests this year. I got my letter in to have my 3rd Covid vaccine but I have to travel about 30 minutes away to get it, looks like it’s going to be the same for the flu jabs, one of the pharmacy’s in my town are advertising that they are doing the flu ones so I might just book one in there. My surgery only vaccinated the vulnerable patients, I was lucky as I got the other two there but my hubby had to travel to another town to have his. Wish we could have got them together, that would have saved all the travelling as I have to drive or it’s three buses to the vaccination centre and my hands are very sore at the moment. They don’t make it easy for us.

Sorry to read this, I agree, it would’ve been better for you both to have them together. Sorry to read about your hands

Really good to read your comments, isn’t it strange how it all the shots are distributed around the country? I will ask about the covid booster shot when I go for the flu one this morning and let you know what they say about that.

My flu jab is next monday. If they offer me a 3rd jab or booster at same time, I won't be having it. I want to keep them at least 10 days apart because I was ill after the first 2 vaccines. I have never had a problem with the flu jab but having both of them together just doesn't sound right to me.

I got a walk in flu jab at the chemist attached to my GP. No fuss, no appointment nice and easy. Just been invited by Rheumatologist hospital for third booster for Covid too. Certainly seems very mixed experiences fir everyone. Good luck with yours

Me and hubby had ours 2 weeks ago. GP surgery did a clinic on a saturday morning for all patients over 50. We queued for an hour and a half! Hundreds if people turned up for it.🙂

Well just back from having the flu shot. In our public halls, organised like the vaccine shot. I have no information as to when they’re doing boosters… I think I’ll be six months from my second vaccination in two weeks time, so maybe I’ll hear soon. I agree with the comments here that it’s better to have them separately than together as it will be difficult to ascertain which side effects are related to which vaccination. Wishing you all well, sounds like it will be a rough winter so best get those flu shots soon if you can

All good, I feel fine, at least with regards side effects of the flu shot from this morning. I’ve always been fine, so don’t expect to be poorly tonight. Hope you all get on well with yours x

I booked at boots for my flu jab was supposed to be on Friday but I wasn’t well enough. I always suffer with flu jab puts me in bed for a few days. My GP won’t get the egg free version for me as they don’t believe I have an egg allergy and I won’t suffer with a swollen throat just to prove them wrong. Covid jab hasn’t been mentioned yet I’m supposed to have a 3rd vaccination as I’m severely immune suppressed but no doubt they’ll wait until my 6 months is up which will be 7th October. I never have a problem at Boots they’re much more thorough and actually ask questions and check I’m ok. Unlike GP ok, stand there your done NEXT haha.

Had mine at local pharmacy yesterday, he said he would not recommend having both vaccines together as been told to advise people to wait a week in-between jabs. As he said directives are crazy.
