Well drama this morning flat tyre I do a great impression of Basil Fawlty. So the plan was to put on war paint and start battle tomorrow. Then … got a phone call from practice manager (whom I was told on holiday this week 🤨) apologies all round waiting times is not the practice but the health authorities who wanted to change the system to allow more phone calls upshot extensive waiting times . She going to use my email to highlight the problem with the health authority. Now my prescription is a controlled drug so can’t be on repeat (I know) told to make an appointment in advance every time I get a new prescription . No that won’t work I said as prescription is only 4 weeks worth app available is 6 weeks and I told her I didn’t appreciate being told by receptionist that the problem is of my own making and didn’t listen with a continued reply of make an app. Told to lie and say medical emergency. Can’t get through due to no one answering phone . So upshot Gp will ring in the morning for new prescription and I’m to ring practice manager given her direct phone number so she will personally book an appointment for me . My last question to her was I’m stubborn and I don’t give up but this has taken 2 weeks but for those who can’t be as proactive and stubborn what are you going to do so they don’t fall through the gap? . 😏
It seems a bit of a convoluted way to solve a problem, as you say you cannot be the only one in the practice with this type of issue, but pleased you have a resolution for now.
Oh my goodness I am stunned for you. What an absolute shambles, the practice seems an embarrassment. I love how those little lies about people being on holiday or in meetings etc gets out in the end. It’s all just fodder so they don’t have to deal with us after all.Your last comment is something I think of all the time, I’m a bit like a dog with a bone and don’t give up, I also work in healthcare. So I feel sorry for all the people who either a) don’t push for their treatment or care or answers etc and b) have limited health literacy and therefore assume that everything someone tells them is gospel.
What a way to go round the houses to get you sorted!
Glad you got the result you need but what a disgraceful situation your surgery has created. We are RA warriors but how will the shy shrinking violets get the care they need. 😡
So bizarre. I'm on pregablin and MST. They are all controlled drugs and I get them on repeat. I just have to have a telephone chat with GP on every 8th issue. Strange how some places are different.
This sounds like a very bad soap opera. Doesn't your practise use "Patient Access". I had controlled drugs, couldn't have them on repeat but at least I could request them on-line. I am very glad that you have the strength to be stubborn. I am the same and feel sorry for the people who fall through the net. Since lock down I had to chase EVERYTHING, not just NHS related. It's going to get better, it will!
Well after I got sick and tired of having to see doc every 4 weeks to get a repeat of fentanyl patches I saw my doctor with my husband in tow and basically sat talking to the doctor and put him in the picture why I needed them and wouldn’t move until he agreed to put them on repeat which, whatever they say is absolutely possible for patients who aren’t considered to be at risk of abusing them. Just don’t take no for an answer you can get them on repeat without all the crap they’re telling you you have to do. You have a chronic disease for goodness sake it’s not going to go away 🙄.
Oh well done you !!!👏👏👏👏and great you talked up for others too! I’m wondering if I could go down to the doctors reception with a large branch and “ Basil Faulty” them to get an appointment 😂🤣
This whole episode is dreadful... my GP surgery has been told to withdraw access to email as patients will abuse it, and they [GPs] are at risk of abuse and worse...
Stress we are constantly told is bad for us.. no way are they helping.. they are at risk of abuse is awful but what risk are the likes of us? And those who are worse.
I'm so glad to hear you finally got the right result but what load of nastiness you had to go through. I will be writing to my GP practice to complain, something I wouldn't do normally but I'm truly brassed off. Mine was a medical emergencyand things could have become serious. To add insult to injury I've got another three days of ab's because the inflammation isn't settling.
It's calmed down a lot, thankyou. I'm hoping that the last three day's worth does the trick. I really don't want to be admitted and put on an ab iv drip
Hi JPut the branch down and Step away!😆😆 Hope the poor car is ok after incurring your wrath!!
Seriously though, what an absolute farce. You just never know whether you are being told the truth, or fobbed off. It's like being stuck in a bureaucratic nightmare. Like others, I have controlled drugs (Tramadol and Oramorph) both on repeat, and my hubby has Pregabalin on repeat, so them saying it's not possible doesn't entirely make sense. Surely it's causing more work to keep making all these appointments? (Not that you can get through to make one, of course)!
Well done for getting your points across, and taking time to speak up for others!👍👍
Just seen your addendum. Brilliant you've got 3 month's worth. So much for their apparent 'rule", eh?? xx
