Hi. Having watched the press conference this evening I don’t think they will re-introduce shielding/self isolating. In fact to be honest I think they want to get rid of us. Apparently 100-200 deaths a day (best case scenario) is acceptable. I sometimes feel I’m watching a bad film when I turn on the tv at the moment. Take care of yourself, looks like no one else is going to do it. XX

Absolutely. I can't believe that in this civilised country in the 21st century that we are being told that thousands more people will die and we are opening the flood gates. It is total insanity and terrifying.

Makes the film contagion look realistic!

I might have misheard but I thought Boris said something about issuing guidelines for the vulnerable 🤔

Another piece of the press conference re rising case numbers but Javid had said last week we have to live with the fact there will be 100,000 new cases a day. It’s such a contrast to what is happening in Holland and their PM apologising today for ending lockdown a few weeks ago and now having to impose new restrictions as they got a surge and 10,000 new cases on Saturday. Huge contrast as to what the Dutch deem dangerous and to what this government do. 😢

Hopefully your questions will be answered when the announcement is made on 19/7….but I don’t think shielding/self isolating will be reintroduced, nor will the furlough scheme be prolonged further. The success of the vaccination scheme does mean we are now in a safer place ….and we are going to have to learn to live with Covid & organise our lives around it.That won’t be easy for anyone, but it will be particularly difficult for those who are vulnerable & have to go to a workplace.

But as with other infections that have been overcome….as time goes on it will become easier to manage.

We can’t just hide away & wait to be told what to do….so it really is best foot forward & behave as we feel comfortable.

Hi, agree 100% but my worry is the idiots that don’t behave and put everyone at risk. That lessens my personal choice and options.

I think we just have to pick where we go carefully….luckily I don’t frequent many crowded places these days…I’m online shopping addicted,& I certainly won’t fly this year…I am just hoping the penny drops & those who do refuse to be careful realise things will be more bearable if they toe the line.

I’ve never stopped minimising contact with people outwith my household.

No not at all.guidelines and advice just given to do what any sensible person would.I will still wash hands, sanitise, wear masks and not get too close to people.Avoid crowds and get on with my life.I have been careful and had both vaccines.we will see what happens now after the 20th

Me too. We’ve been really careful as both are vulnerable. Last month we decided to go away for a few days. We stayed in Scotland, just an hour away and were really careful with masks distancing etc. We took flow tests when we came back and were ok. Friends were not so lucky, they went south to Blackpool last week and one has tested positive yesterday.

Worrying times. M x

Who knows? I do think the govt is being cautious again now. Boris said last night that he always said they 'hoped' the lifting of restrictions would be irreversible but he didn't. He definitely said they were irreversible so there is a chance and a very real one in my opinion, that we will be in full lockdown again by september if the numbers continue to rise exponentially as they are at the moment.
