Yes and it was so bad I got admitted to local hospital. So painful and i tied CBD its rubbish, and only thing that worked was Pregabalin. The stuff was prescribed and yes its addictive but I did not care and took for about 4 - 6 months as I had so much pain. I came down slowly and it was ok. I also used DeepFreeze on the area once the scabs had dried and it was from the small of my back down to my knee and back up. I could not get the Capsacain cream then as the chilli harvest was not good but the GP said it worked mostly in the mind but the Pregabalin worked in fact. My knee kept giving way and although its fine now it was an awful time. I still take a therapeutic dose of Aciclovar to stop it coming back.
I know it is a systemic viral infection and,not just a skin problem, and can make you feel poorly. It will take antivirals and time and rest.Hope you feel better soon
It was excruciatingly painful.mine was in my private and around back.was put on anti viral but made me so bad kept passing out and so sick had to come off it.Creams just made me itch more.used to get bag of peas out of freezer and place on back and ice cold flannel between legs.had to stop my Abatacept biologic injections for 3 weeks so I healed which made my RA worse.really feel for you
I had shingles on my right arm many years ago, I can still remember the intense pain, so I really feel for you. I was given the antivirals meds very quickly, it did start to settle, and the pain reduce, but the sores took a long time to heal. All best wishes. X
I had shingles as a teenager - long time ago! I was given a course of vitamin B12 injections so it might be worth either asking your doctor about that or just buying some sublingual B12 to see how that goes. If you do make sure that you buy methalcobalamin rather than cyanocobalamin. Look on the ingredients to make sure.
I’ve just recovered from a nasty bout of shingles, the blisters stretched all the way across my chest & back in a band approximately 4” wide. The pain was so intense that I had trouble breathing for the first few days & every time I stood up I felt like I was going to pass out. I felt awful & completely exhausted for weeks. Took 5 weeks before all the blisters & scabs finally disappeared & I was in severe pain for at least 3 weeks even though I take Diclofenac, cocodamol & Meptazinol daily. Doctor put me on antivirals & told me to stop taking my mtx & steroids for at least 4 weeks. I’m back on them now but am feeling quite a bit of pain & swelling in my joints. Guess it’ll take a few weeks for the Mtx levels to get back up to a useful point 😔 Look after yourself, rest as much as you can & keep your fluid levels up as dehydration will make you feel even worse. Feel better soon xx
Thanks everyone for you replies, feeling a little better today so hopefully over the worst, although in pain now from an RA flairup but gonna miss another weeks meds to give me a better chance to heal.Stay safe and take care everyone❤ xxx
