I wrote yesterday about how my GPs computer system could not record that the Shingrex virus is administered twice. So you might be recorded as not going back for the second dose. I’ve had another bout of Shingles despite both doses needing anti virals. So please make sure if you have Shingrex that it is recorded properly or risk being marked up a no show when you did.
My GP has corrected the record now but it’s worth just asking if your vaccine is recorded properly next time you are in the surgery or go to online patient records.
And so in some cases the computer says is not right !!!

Yes it didn’t last long as antivirals do work quickly but I’ve now got a rotten head cold. Still there is always something. Are you dancing around the lounge yet with your new hip? Xx
I was discharged from orthopaedics yesterday, but I did ask for physio to help with the wobble I have when I try to walk unaided. But I'm doing ok , slow steady progress. The hip is doing fine, just the rest of me that's falling apart 🙃
No, not early to walk unaided. Some folks are walking a mile or two by now. I didn't walk well before I broke my hip, then had 10 weeks before the hip was replaced. So playing a bit of catch up, but I'm happy with my progress. I know I need to strengthen my hip and pelvic muscles.
My GP nurse didn't even know that you needed two jabs with Shingrix non live vaccine. It only came to light when I asked her when I should come for 2nd one. She told me I only needed one and that she had given quite a few without a 2nd jab. I told her I needed 2 and she looked it up while I was there. She said. "Oh yes, rheumatology requires 2 jabs. " Make sure they know before you keave. Don't assume they know everything, they don't.
The concerning thing is that she said Rheumatology require 2 jabs....it's the vaccine that requires two jabs, isn't it? I stand to be corrected but I thought all patients having the Shingrix jab needed 2 jabs. Bit worrying if the previous patients only had the one.
Yes absolutely. Everyone should have 2 but I think she just looked up Rheumatology and tried to cover up her mistake by saying they requested it. She knows now.
What rotten luck, having shingles twice inspite of the the jab! I know you are medically compromised with other health issues, but that was really tough. Re the Shringrix jab my practice nurse told me that they keep changing the ideal time between the two jabs, as more information is coming in. I had booked mine for four months but, because she is the only nurse in our surgery able to give it and she was going to be away on holiday, combined with a shortage of appointments, I had to wait until five months. No problem because I'd initially been told between two and six months. She had received another email that morning saying that two months was ideal. We are lucky to have her...she used to be a paramedic then trained as a nurse, and she's very competent. I wonder it might be because Shingrix is so expensive that the other nurses can't administer it. 💗
