My dad had a letter to book his vaccination today too - given a choice of 4 venues - the nearest was 30 miles away, the next 47 miles away, the next 53 miles away and the last 87 miles away! It’s a joke when just 6 miles down the road, GP surgeries are giving them!

That's disappointing - no point in contacting the local surgery, I suppose?

I will be asking the surgery today but when I asked 2 weeks ago (when I know they had already started giving the vaccination at Addenbrookes before Christmas) I was told he had to wait to be contacted.

They did say on the news that you can contact your local surgery if you cannot make the alternatives , good luck

It depends where the vaccine is being delivered unfortunately. My housebound 94 year old mother had to travel 10 miles, luckily I found a neighbour to take her as I live 150 miles away. There is usually community transport available too. Hope you father can get his vaccination

10 miles is fine, I don’t see a problem especially when we live just outside Cambridge and they are giving it at Addenbrookes, just 6 miles away! But then telling people to travel at least 30 miles is ridiculous when the government is telling us not to travel anywhere so as not to put pressure on the NHS!

My friends mum just had to travel 30 miles, it is luck of the draw as to how far you need to travel. You have the option to wait for a closer location or make the journey if you can safely do so.

Brilliant news and also chuffed that the message came by text because some days I don’t even see the post man πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

A friend of my son also had notification by text. It’s much more reliable I imagine the post is a bit up in the air at the moment in some places. On the other hand it means I need to actually look at my mobile for a change, I never usually bother about it.
