Hi everyone, I submitted a PIP application at the end of September 2020 and got a text email to say that they had it on the 1st October. I’ve heard nothing since. It is now over 14 weeks since they received it. I’m currently a mature student with disabled student status due to my condition.
My question is has anyone got any idea of current PIP waiting times?
I’m also wondering if I’ll be called for an assessment due to being a disabled student (I submitted lots of evidence).
I tried to contact them this afternoon for an update, I was on the phone waiting for an hour but was then told via automated voice that they couldn’t connect me and the phone went dead.
Thank you in advance x

It should be answered within a month with a date for interview/assessment in normal time, but I haven’t a clue what’s happening at the moment. I would chase that up as it’s a long time to wait. x
I applied for pips in September also. I had my telephone assessment early in December and received my award letter two weeks later. I guess every area may have different waiting times and due to covid things maybe delayed.
I was really nervous as it was my first time applying for it but honestly the assessment was fine. The woman was nice and friendly on the phone and I just had to answer the questions that was already on the form. My husband was present also and he was able to add in some detail also. Assessment took around 45 minutes. Yes money was backdated so it was an early Christmas present for us.
I have been waiting 16 weeks to date to hear about my PIP application. I got an acknowledgement that they had received my application and then total silence. I did manage to get through to someone in the middle of November and was told that most people are working from home but that it was still being processed. I did plan to try and contact them in December but due to circumstances did not manage to do so. As to whether it is backdated my understanding is that it is backdated to when you first made your claim for PIP with them.
My application was at the end of July/beginning August if I remember correctly. I got a letter from them in September to say that they had given me an extension of two weeks to complete it but I returned it towards the end of September, the 22nd, as I’ve just found my post office receipt. I’ll call again this week. This is my first application although I’ve had private employer disability pension for nearly 20 years such was my problems/condition then. It has got worse and it was only after I applied to uni as a very mature student that my disability officer suggested that I apply for it. Good luck with the application :))
