Good morning everyone. This question have probably been asked and replied before but just wondering what is the current timescale for PIP application response? I posted the forms off by special delivery on 6th April and when I phoned on 10th May to check ( seems not to expect an acknowledgment of receipt) that DWP have received the forms, I was told that my application was with the Assessment Officer and there's a 4 month backlog...
So I am waiting and wondering at what point should I phone to check again or should I just wait patiently for DWP to get in touch?
Many thanks in advance for your replies.

Just wait patiently 😊 ringing again and again won’t make it any quicker. You know they have received it so that’s good, now the waiting begins. Good luck
Hello there..frustrating isn't it..the whole system..I waited 24 weeks from start to finish. Take a tip from me when you go for the face to face assessment..presuming you are able bodied enough to do that...record the interview.Maybe take some one along if possible to help with that.I believe you have to pre arrange that but do it if you can. I didn't do either and I completely regret it. Goodluck with it..they appear not to have time to acknowledge much so you just have to wait. If they say it's with an assessment officer the process has at least started x
I did attend my appointment face to face..I was advised to record the assessment but I didn't and I wish I had.I was awarded 4 points initially.. you get nothing for 4 points.I asked for a reconsideration over the phone and then received a phone call weeks later and was told I would receive standard rate mobility..£24.00 ish a week.I found the whole thing degrading ..judgemental frustrating and a really upsetting experience. I really hope it is completely different for you and that you are successful. We don't put ourselves through these things because we have nothing better to do ..it's a tough place we find ourselves in on a daily basis without being made to feel like an outlaw.Goodluck my friend...I was told it might be an unpleasant experience but I doubted it...unfortunately it was☹..if your can record it I would x
Many thanks Ajay for the advice. Wow! In for a long wait! You wonder why people are put off applying and yet you read in the media about applying for PIPs and made it out to be a walk in the park!
My first PIP application was a long time ago now. I had an 8 month wait from receipt of application until my interview but there were reasons which won't apply to you thankfully. I'm telling you this because I did call the DWP 4 times in the interim, getting nowhere & being told porkies… why I suggest you sit & wait patiently, only because you've been advised your application has been received & given the backlog time. Calling won't hurry it up, only wind you up (& cost you) waiting for them to answer.
I know it's frustrating but hang on in there, enjoy the summer weather & it will be time all too soon. Remember too that if you're awarded it your money will be backdated to date of receipt of application so you do receive the money due to you. 😊
Thank you nomoreheels for your reassuring reply. I will not bother to phone till DWP get in touch. At least I now know that it takes a long time for them to process the application. Have a good day.
I waited 5 months but they did pay back to the time it was sent in. If you get it ,you will probably have a phone assessment unless they are doing face to face in your area x good luck. I got full disability and mobility as I have trouble walking with my feet being so bad.
