Morning peeps ๐
Update on my appointment regarding changing meds...
I went to hospital yesterday morning and my clinical team have decided to try me on a different biologic injection - keeping everything else the same: methotrexate and sulphasalazine. The one I was offered was Idacio (biosimilar to Humira apparently) but 'exactly the same as Adalimumad'. I asked why I should have this particular one and she suggested it 'was the next best one to Cimzia'. ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ The clinical nurse, who I saw, said I had to be tested for Hepatitis B and TB before she could put the application forward, so to speed things up, I had to shoot over to a different hospital (40 minutes away) for a blood test. Because you generally have to book them now and it can take weeks for an appointment, she said that she'd put urgent stickers all over my form so that I could get it done that day, but it had to go through by midday! She also gave me 2 steroid injections because she could see how much pain I was in...whether they'll work ๐คthey don't usually, but never say never. So, for now I carry on with Cimzia, rather than stopping, because with everything going on with Covid, who knows how long it will take. I also have to wait for a nurse to be with me when I first inject - all being well with the application. I asked what time would have to be between Cimzia and Idacio and she said -only 2 weeks - so thats not too bad.
Has anybody had any experience with Idacio? Any advice would be fab - thank you ๐
